Hawkeye errors « on: July 15, 2007, 11:43:15 AM »

I got this email today...

I'm wondering what Andy has to say about the mathematics error in the
Hawkeye system.

The educational system has gone downhill since I was a kid. Hawkeye is
an insult to the teaching profession.

Can someone explain that this person is referring to?

Yeah, Hawkeye isn't 100% accurate.  I'm not sure what the exact degree of error is, but I think it's at most 5% (and probably is a lot less).

Double You Tee Eff to the second half.

Yet Nadal and Federer think it makes mistakes... and I assume they are not claiming that on the 00.1%.

For protesting so much about it Nadal seemed to use it an awful lot in the Wimbledon Final...

Quite sure that was more of a tactic to slow down the pace of the match and stop Fed getting any rhythm.

Indeed! One of the reasons Fed doesn't like it.
