I have been inspired from BBC's Child of our Time and chatting with work buddies about childhood to come up with a new game.  Every day (or when the thread as been dead for a few hours) a question is asked for everyone who wants to take part to answer.  Examples of these questions could be "How old were you when ....you first rode a bike, or when you had your first girl/boy friend, or first time you got drunk etc etc.  

Not sure how it will take off but I thought it might be interesting, I'll start ...

Topic has been expanded to "first" questions such as "who was your first kiss" or "what was your first car" and so on.

Do you think its better to do it as a answer one, then ask one?  I thought about this but I didn't know which was best.  I thought it would be interesting comparing peoples answers.

i was about 4 when i flew to mallorca
and then the year after i flew to australia. that was a loooooooooooong flight for a 5 year old.

although i shouldn't answer this question on the fact that it is based on the heteronormativity of society and that is something that i am fundamentally against (even though i belong to the hereosexual norm) i think i was about ... 5 when i had my first boyfriend. I think attraction of a sexual nature probably happened when I was about 11ish or so. I think younger than that its hard to have an attraction that can be determined as being sexual.

(even though this might not be the way this thread is being run)

Surely that's extreme. I think it's just used to say something in different words. When you'd ask: 'When did you start finding *someone* attractive', it sounds very bad.

i dont think its extreme but then again iv just spent the past 3 hours writing an essay on how bad the heteronormativity of society is so you could say im a little one track minded atm  unsure I think 'when did you start finding people sexually attractive' sounds fine myself. But like i said, ive spent the day correcting heterosexual norms lol

so....... question of the day perhaps?

Thursday 8th May: How old were you when you first flew on a plane?

Then, whoever answers around midnight, or first person to post after midnight of the next day posts the next question. Can use something already used because only one person has answered it. Smile I think this would be much more interesting.

I first flew on a plane when I was 18 months or so I believe. My first of many detentions was at the age of 11, in fact a double bugger for being naughty on a school trip! shocking And my first kiss was the 1 second improper sort in primary school (as Beth was saying) innocent

Ahhhhh, I didn't even see Amy's suggestion!

I'll answer the plane one...

I was 2 years old, and I was travelling to Majorca. I cried all the way there as I had ear problems, and cried all during the holiday and had to go see a doctor about the ear problems. Good first holiday!

Five, I remember, Kriss his name was, and he dumped me on Valentines Day.

How old were you when you first drank alcohol?
Ten years old, properly, my friend moved into her new house and we all got Smirnoff Ice's, I remember thinking I was amazing. The next day we all complained that we felt sick and had 'hangovers', but we really didn't... we just wanted to feel adult.

How old were you when you first played tennis?
I was really good as a child, from 8-14ish... but then I stopped going to lessons because I couldn't afford it anymore.

How old where you when you first got detention?
My second week at secondary school for not doing my french homework, and to this day I don't like french.

How old were you when you learnt to walk?
Honestly, no idea.

How old were you when you had your first kiss?
Nine, round the back of the chapel(don't ask) I used to go to as a child, with my 'best friend' at the time, it was definetly puppy love. I was 'with him' until I was 13... (five years of childhood that's alot!) now he's a drug-taking charv. Frown

First time on a plane was when i was 8 years old and we went to Cyprus. Our first family holiday outside of the UK. Loved flying ever since.

First time in detention was when I was 13 at high school. Had 3 since I think....  Think

And I've never purchased a CD for myself in my life. I have bought them for others at around age 17/18 onwards maybe, but never one for myself.

I first played tennis when I was 8, and have played every summer since. And I first had alcohol at the age of 17yrs 9 months at the school leaving ball, well the afterparty (if bottles of Reef can be considered alcoholic lmao ). But never again until the day I turned 18.

Think that's most of them lol

On the first one I ain't sure...... I seem to remember having a crush on a girl in primary 6.... so aged.... 10?

And Sarah, ask your mum, mum's know these things. I had to ask mine lol
