He's brilliantly idiotic at times.

Jamie Murray has revealed that his first partner next season will be the Belarussian Max Mirnyi. Mirnyi, nicknamed the ‘Beast from Belarus’, has 33 doubles titles, including two US Opens and two French Opens.

Jamie revealed his delight about this news:

I am really excited.

Hopefully some of his experience can rub off on me and we make a formidable partnership.

He serves big, volleys well and has a great presence. I think he's a great player.

I didn't think it would happen, if I'm honest.

It took me a while to find someone. I held off and held off, but I think I have found the right one now.

Jamie, along with brother Andy, will now step up training for next season in Miami.

It was indeed. It's a great partnership for Jamie. First and foremost it shows how much potential the top of the game put in him for someone with his calibre to sign up to play the slams with him. Hopefully this'll be a lasting arrangement.

More quotes from Jamie

I was kind of hassling him a little bit to email me and see what he wanted to do.

I didn't really think it would happen, if I'm honest. It took me a while to find someone. I held off and held off, but I think I have found the right one now. I am more excited about it rather than relieved. I don't see why we can't do well in the big tournaments. Max and I both play quite a similar kind of style, which I think will work well. He serves big, volleys well and has a great presence. I think he's a great player.
