I think it was from when Shelbyville stole Springfield's lemon tree and Homer tried to climb the impound lot gate and the other guy said "You're crazy Springfield!"....and Homer says "Crazy like a fox!!"

I'm using a p!ss poor Dell PC.
Talking of Dell... I have a very poor trck record with laptops... and I broke my one (which was sh*tty, cheap Advent one) in the summer and i have currently nicked my brother's lptop to use... but i need to buy my own one. However, i don't hve tht much money to spend... and someone suggested i should try out Dell for a good, cheap laptop. So, does anyone hve any good/bd opinions on Dell...?

Personally I think Dell are w**kers, and I'd never buy anything from them, but hey... maybe that's just me...
They do make some pretty good PCs, and for decent prices, but the majority of Dell customers I've spoken to have found support absolutely sh*t...

You might want to consider
this laptop
, has tones of great user reviews on that site. Also eBuyer are a fantastic place to buy from, they have been very nice to me regarding returns. In the summer they came and collected a faulty item and refunded me when by law, in that particular situation, I don't think they actually had to do anything for me.

Never, ever, ever buy anything from Dell. I use my PC a lot, and have spent an awful lot of time talking to their "suport" over the last year. They are a shambles. They expect YOU to do the repairs with an engineer giving instructions over the phone. I had lengthy conversations with supervisors about the total lack of customer care. After having problems for the whole term of my warranty, they finally took it away to repair, but they fixed nothing. The receipt says they "repaired" the motherboard, yet the exact same problems still exist
A totally faceless company, which is as well, because I'd have been done for assault by now, after the shoddy treatment from them.
I'm not really their biggest fan

I like the idea of them telling you how to repair it [saves time] but going by the other stuff you mentioned then they sound pretty damn sh*t :E

It sounds great when you're only doing diagnostics Mark. I had another problem, and I had to virtually strip down the PC to the bare bones, and rebuild it again, which should IMO, be done by a technician. Most other places would void your warranty if you worked on the tower yourself, as you aren't qualified

Quite right. Plus the warranty you have with them should say they have to repair it if it's bust. I would stay away from Dell too. Had my first look at one in June when I was in London, my Grandmother's laptop. Total pile of sh*t.

From the Washington Post last Monday:
"In my view, we lost our way," Vista's manager, Jim Allchin, wrote in an e-mail (later posted online) to Microsoft founder Bill Gates and chief executive Steve Ballmer. "I would buy a Mac today if I was not working at Microsoft."

Straight from the horses mouth eh? Statements like that make Apple computers seem the only way to go. One thing I always hated about PC's, was that everyone and his dog hates Bill Gates. There are new viruses and bugs aimed at anything connected to him eg. Windows, Internet Explorer etc all the time. I never hear of anyone with an Apple computer having any such problems.

That's because Apple is in such the minority that virus makers won't bother with them.
Although it might be true that Macs are more secure, you have to remember that virus and security vulnerabilities are relative to the popularity of the product.

As far as i knew Mark, most viruses were produced with the sole reason of sabotaging Bill Gates business. His empire is certainly frowned upon by computer geeks and.....eh......Mac users
I appreciate, there will always be bugs and viruses that affect all internet users, but programs like Windows, Internet Explorer and Windows Messenger are used as carriers for hackers and the like, to infiltrate home PC's.
It IS possible though, that since Macs are the minority, you don't here of problems as often, but you do hear people praising them a helluva lot more

The only minus with macs (IMO) is comms...less choice of add-ons... and ok they're not cheap, but they're worth the extra...(unless yer into games)
