Question:
Will Mark ever beat Tom?
Yes and most times after that.
Yes but rarily.
No, quite unlikely.
No chance, never!

I'm playing Bill tomorrow.
Time to level that head-to-head.

Dissapointed is such an understatement.
First set was very close and lasted a long time but ended 6-4 to Tom... then guess what, Cate comes out and just ends up being the biggest distraction a player can have - bouncing a ball on the ball toss, waving her arms and shouting mid-ralley.
I should have taken this to 5-sets but because I often was infuriated by Cate's antics I lost in three straight sets and apologised to Tom afterwards for giving him such a bad game.
Friday, he's going down.

Cate, you cost him the chance of winning!

I gave him one of my best first sets (I'm a slow starter) for quite a while but couldn't bring the focus and consistency to the rest of the match because I used twice as much energy getting angry. Cate thinks it's just a game but it isn't when Tom insists on posting the score up every time he wins.
I haven't felt this unsatisfied after a match for maybe years - I gave him such an easy win.

I can't even remember, but they were easier wins for Tom.

I actually didn't... I'm a true competitor, I just know I'm going to win whatever the score so it's not that important. I doubt you'll ever see me mentally down in a tennis match any longer than a few seconds at a time.

Maybe it's time to analyse the matches to a deeper level.

although Mark may be using Cate as an excuse, imagine having someones girlfirend watching who you have only met once before.... surely thats more distracting than someone who you see every day. Plus its the same for both sides. The reason Mark did well in the first set was because I was playing poorly and upped my game for the 2nd and 3rd sets.
Il also add the fact that I swam for over a mile non stop at midday so i was a bit stiff.. possibly the reason for Mark seemingly doing well first set.
At the end of the day though yet another straight sets victory for me

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.
