Question:
Will Mark ever beat Tom?
Yes and most times after that.
Yes but rarily.
No, quite unlikely.
No chance, never!

Good thing is I finally got to use my overarm serve as my arm has almost healed. Got a few free points on it which is impressive for me.

I'm happy today as I won the first set against Tom since forever!
However I lost 6-4 1-6 2-6 1-6 (not sure about the score) in a 3 hour a match.
Tom also was upset because I did some gamesmanship - he won a point to have match point but he wasn't sure if it went over the net or through some hole so I pretended not to know and replayed the point but I then regretted it after noticing that Tom took it seriously and therefore I offered several times to go back to the original point after I won the game.
Anyway, I feel good and had a fun game

4-6 6-1 6-1 6-1 actually Mark.
One mans 'gamesmanship' is another mans cheating...

And another man's cheating is Brad Gilbert's winning ugly.
But seriously, if I had known you would get personally upset over it then I would have conceded the point but I had no idea until then that you took our games as seriously as I do. And therefore you have my apologies and I promise never to pretend to not know about a shot.

I dont take the games particularly seriously, i take cheating seriously. A game between friends involves trust and honesty in order to determine close calls. Im not upset, just a bit dissapointed.
Il take any anger out on you next time and provide bagels galore

You won't need to be disappointed again - gamesmanship is not my thing but I unfortunately stooped to that level in desperation and next time I'll make sure I just win the point properly.

Nope and also no excuses for the loss.
I feel today was a breakthrough as I finally won the first set. Unfortunately because I choked constantly on set point, after I finally won the set it felt like I had won the match and therefore I let my guard down the second set. After that the momentum was lost to Tom
So I've learnt a big lesson which is great.

I'm playing tomorrow. Been roped into playing for my club's winter team, so no lie in. The captain has rung me for each of the previous 3 games so it seems like he doesn't really have a team signed up. I couldn't make the first, played the 2nd and would have played the 3rd but it was rained off.

I'm officially taking 3 weeks out from tennis as I busted my bad arm again. It got so bad that Deep Heat didn't help and therefore I had to teach myself to play with a double-handed forehand

Tom's going out with someone whose surname is "Murray". I can't say I disapprove

A reflection on his tennis skills, which would make it more apt that Cate's surname should be Bogdanovic.
