Re: Marriage Rate Fallen « Reply #30 on: March 27, 2008, 08:56:42 AM »

Well I always said I wanted to get married in the Scottish Highlands and have my fella in kilt.  Very Happy  But if the guy isn't Scottish I might have to do some extra persuasions to get him in one.  Mwahahahahaaaaaa!

If you're going to spend a lot of money it makes sense to spend it all on the honeymoon, that is where I would not object.

Ah, I never got a honeymoon Crying or Very sad  We got the keys to our house the day before we got married, so our time off was spent sorting that out.  I did get taken to Scotland some 20 years later, without the kids, so that was kind of a belated honeymoon Very Happy

I don't think the size of the wedding is important, so long as it is what both parties want and can afford.  I also think that an intimate wedding is remembered more and with greater affection than one of the huge bashes where money has been thrown at it.

I want all my family and my closest friends there.... HAS to be a big wedding for me.

Yes, but I think that is because you are a naturally ebullient person .......... what happens if you marry a very sweet retiring kind of a gal who just wants to hold a bunch of daisies on the beach at Millport ?

Not a chance. lmao

I don't think i'll ever get married... it seems weird to think that someone could find someone they'd want to spend literally their whole life with... doesn't seem possible to me, but then i'm young i guess.

Naw ..... you wouldn't care where you went just so long as you are with the right person ..... lol

Yep, this is true. yes

This applies to any relationship I find. Obviously if you do care where you go, then they are no longer the right person.

You'll change your mind when Mr Right turns up - maybe you need to go and buy the biggest piggy bank you can find right now and start saving ! lol

I am saving already Very Happy  I'd never expect my parents to pay anything for me again.  Especially not the cost of a wedding.  They've not paid anything for me since I turned 18.  And I've been paying them since I was 19!  lol

We'll see.  But I think I'd still want to go outside the UK, even if it was only as far as France.  Something different ...
