Actually that's a good point. Just for the organisers, say for example, me and josh tie this week. I obviously, by the rules get the most points, he gets the next.
Now, say we tie again next week. I don't think it;s fair if you go by the last tournament, because although I got the points, we DID tie. So in this incredibly unlikely scenario, of two people tying two or more weeks in a row, you should then go to most correct matches (exact scores first, then players)

You can always just look at the exact points they scored the tournaments before (and didn't end in the top 8) like 36 points, etc.

yeah, that's not a problem. It should NEVER be taken from the finishing postion, but the points anyway. Cause say for example Josh and I tied on 64 pts last week. I;d get the 10 due to winning Doha. Now... say we tie this week, if they just looked at who got the points, then it'd be unfair because we actually tied the week before. That was my point.

If last week's results were tied as well them I think it would go to the results the week before.

Yeah that's what I meant should NOT happen. Because of this.
If I had tied with Josh on points in Australia. I would have gotten the the 20pts as I beat him in Doha.
HOWEVER, if I tie this week, it's not fair to say that because I got the 20pts, that I should get the 10pts this week too. Cause then it's only because of my Doha success and not the AUS Open, which was TECHNICALLY a tie.
If you do it your way, you never have to look at actual points, just points awarded... but I think that's rubbish

Why is that rubbish? Whats worse about results from two weeks more then last weeks? It just happens to work out that it'll mean it depends on last weeks points and not how well you did last week, but thats not the reason for it. The reason is because you did better two weeks ago.
By the way, what you said that it should go by most correct winner+sets and then by most correct winners isn't really possible, because if two people are tied on points, and have the same amount of correct winners+sets, they'll by definition have the same amount of correct winners.

On your first point it;s rubbish because in THEORY I could tie with Josh every week from now on, and because I won the Autralian Open, I would get more points than him, because of that SINGLE result. It's a highly unlikely situation I grant you, but if you go by the Overall points awarded (i.e. the 10, 8,6....) then you risk giving people points despite only tying.
And on your second point, I did realise this afterwards.

I would argue that even going after last weeks results is not so fair. I actually agree with you, just I thought if you go after last week's you might as well go after the week before's...
I would actually go for a rule change: it should never go after previous results, rather always after who gets more perfect results, and if still level, to go after single days - that is, the one who earns most from any single day, and if thats level, go after the second best etc. (similar to the rule in the ATP rankings if players are level on points and points earned at GS and MS events).

Yeah that makes sense. I like that idea. That way you are seperating ties for a single tournament because of what you did in that tournament.

That's what the rule was for the first few months of RTR. It was incredibly tedious which is why the existing rule was implemented. But I agree it's more unfair...
