It was his deft touch around the net and his returning, however, which marked him out as the special player that we know him to be. Now Federer knows it, too. Asked what it was Murray had said to him at the conclusion of the match and about which Murray had been a little coy,

Federer replied:
He said it was a great honour for him to play against me, which was nice to hear. He's very relaxed out on the court - everything, his attitude, his technique. At times it's good, at times it's not so good.

You can see his potential. There are still many areas he can improve on, but I think he's going to be a good player. He was the much better returner [of the British pair]. I thought he volleyed pretty good, too. He surprised me at times for sure.
