Andy Murray has been accused of dishonoring his £4million contract with Fred Perry by recently wearing a Lacoste hoody in front of a TV audience of millions.

Nigel Currie of London-based Brand Rapport, said:
Andy Murray's exclusive deal with Fred Perry is one of the biggest endorsements in British sport and they are entitled to feel let down by this mistake.
Hamish Pringle, director general of the Institute of Practitioners, said:
The case of a celebrity being disloyal to the brand is a pretty straightforward one to deal with, assuming the contract is correctly drawn up.
Take a look at this photo demonstrating Murray's apparent "disloyalty".

Thing is, this is just more ammo for the Murray-bashers/Daily Mail to have a field day...regurgitate the World Cup stuff, etc.
Hopefully a storm in a teacup  pray

I doubt anyone would have even noticed if they hadn’t pointed it out themselves. duh I don't know why they're getting so angry about it, it's not like he was waiving himself in front of the cameras intentionally shouting, "Look at me I'm over here". He was essentially having a day off so should be allowed to wear what he likes. Yes he ended up on TV/in the paper so I suppose in that sense there should be a differential as to what constitutes being on the court and being off of it (if the contract says he can wear what he likes off court, as I’m assuming it does). If he was on the court playing tennis and wearing Nike (for example) then they have a right to moan but as this is off court then they are out of line. What are they going to do if he wears other brand-names in public? Make him walk down the street nekkid.  shocking lol

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Actually no... If he signs a contract, then Fred Perry is the ONLY clothing he can wear openly... It seems messed up, but it's true...

1) By nature Murray is essentially shouting "Look, I'm here!" because he's famous.

2) Julia noticed the Lacoste logo a while ago and we had a discussion over it but I do appreciate the point your making Smile

3) It's not like Murray wore Oakleys or something... Lacoste is a major rival of Fred Perry but Murray may have not realised that at the time. If he did then out of respect he would of probably not worn it at Wimbledon of all places.

PS. Welcome to MW, lovely to have you here wave

Not that I noticed the brand name, but I'm sure that he took the jacket off at some point between him coming down to watch the end of the match and Jamie and Jelana walking off court - he had it tied around his waist, and he had a pale blue t-shirt on.  Maybe Fred Perry should have sent him more hoodies!

Andy is a 20 years old young fellow, good tennis player and all...The Fred Perry team should understand that with the excitement of his brother playing the his first final at Wimbledon, Andy did not really check the logo on the hoody he was grabbing! He is not a traitor or a mean person! They are blowing the incident out of proportion!

But are they? Where's the statement from Fred Perry? This has probably already been resolved without Andy even being involved. Fred perry press people phone Andy's agent, rant rant rant. Andy's agent pulls the excitement excuse, pointing out that Andy removed the hoodie pretty quickly, showing that there was no malice in it. Fred Perry, still angry make a firm point of ensuring Andy's agent knows this is serious and it should not happen again. Andy's agent promises this is the case. Andy gets a serious slap on the wrist. Two days later the papers get in some non experts to talk about it and make a story. This is typical British press!

Jamie, on the other hand, sponsored by Adidas, conducts his biggest day of press interviews ever wearing an Abercrombie zippy and no-one even notices! Must have a different contract.
