Murray could have 'rotating' team « on: November 15, 2007, 12:22:44 PM »

Andy Murray's agent has suggested that a rotating team may be employed after the Scot dumped what many consider to be the world's best tennis coach.

We're going to take a completely different approach to things.

Fitness will be a big part of it and it may be a rotating team, with people coming in to give specific advice.

Leon Smith, who coached Murray as a junior, is expected to be in the new team with Louis Cayer, who has been helping Jamie Murray, also tipped to join the entourage.

Mark Petchey yesterday warned that some coaches "will now think twice" if asked to coach Murray. Pat Cash also spoke on the situation saying that he woudn't want to work with someone with a "reputation of getting rid of coaches".

After this comment, I can understand how a team of experts would make life on tour a lot more fun but we will have to wait and see if it was the right decision for his tennis.

I'm the sort of guy who likes a lot of people around me. Sometimes when it's just one-on-one with the coach, it can get quite stressful and a little bit stale.

It's just much more fun travelling around the world because it can get quite lonely sometimes and to have a lot of people around you just makes you feel a little bit more at home, when you're away.

I totally get where he's coming from. And if he does feel the one on one coach relationship is being detrimental to his enjoyment of the whole thing then it's gonna have a bad effect on his tennis. I mean look at 06 claycourt season. He was miserable, he played crap. He dumped Petch, started to enjoy playing again and we get the Wimbledon to US Open run of amazing results. Ok, BG was a big part of that but at that stage purely because of how upbeat he made Andy feel about his game.

Yesterday I was gutted he sacked Brad, now I feel he may have a good head on his shoulders and has made a very shrewd and considered decision about his own development.

Exactly. It's not as if he's decided to fly solo. He get's the wealth of experience from a whole selection of different people. It's actually a really good idea.

I'm going to look at this positively, in the last 16 months he must have picked the best bits out off Brads brain, there is only so much you can learn about tactics etc. and Andy's pretty darned good at doing that himself, he admits that he knows all the stats, plays etc. of all the players.  The best thing that has happened to Andy recently has been the improvement in his fitness and Brad took nothing to do with that side of things apart from introduce Andy to Grabow, so I hope Andy still has a working relationship with him as he appears to have done wonders with him physically, the venting at someone while he's on court is easily fixed too, I don't think it matters who Andy is shouting at as long as it takes the pressure off him, so he can just invest in a large teddy bear to sit in Brads old chair.  What he really needs now is someone upbeat that can motivate him, like Tony Robbins, he's probably way more expensive than Brad though.  Sorted. rule

And what's wrong with the all American, white teethed, tanned man?  w00t  He was just as an example, I couldn't think of any other motivators except Jack Black from Mindstore (not the actor), but I didn't think anyone would have heard of him.

KitKat, you can do it, just believe it. Put those negative associations behind you... create new positive associations. Remember, if you want to be a millionaire, it will happen, you've just got to believe it! lol
