He's brilliantly idiotic at times.

Andy Murray won his first round match against Uruguayan qualifier Pablo Cuevas 6-2, 6-3, 6-0 today at the US Open.

It took less than 2 hours to outclass his opponent as Murray hit 37 winners. The Scot did not appear to have been troubled by his wrist even after hitting with his forehand at full power on several occasions.

It was great. It's quite hard to describe but when you don't play for such a long time at an acceptable level it's quite tough to stay positive.

Match ReactionInterviewAlthough it was the first round and against an opponent that a lot of people won't know, that result meant so much to me. More than a lot of results I had earlier in the year.

He will next play on Wednesday where his opponent is Jonas Bjorkman who beat Juan-Pablo Guzman in straight sets.

Murray Speaks!

It was great. It's quite hard to describe but when you don't play for such a long time at an acceptable level it's quite tough to stay positive.

Although it was the first round and against an opponent that a lot of people won't know, that result meant so much to me. More than a lot of results I had earlier in the year.

There was one point I remember - I think it was 4-2 and game point - I hit a running forehand passing shot and that was the first time I really, really hit out on my forehand 100%.

It's easy to do it in practice when the ball's straight to you but when you're on the run and it's a reaction it's completely different, and after that I was a lot more confident.

I still need to get the average speed of my forehand up, it was a little bit slow today, but with each match I'm going to get more confidence.

Sounds to me that he's as happy and relieved as anyone that he's finally able to express himself on the court again. Hopefully he'll get the chance to really show us what he's got!  cmon yeah

Here's the complete post-match interview. He sounds way more mature and composed. Plus really enjoying his tennis again, which is the most important thing.

Only one problem....Björkman!!

If Andy beats him, it'll look like he's reached some kind of form. Beating a qualifier should be routine and expected, but Björkman will be a very tough match for him!
