Murray made an impressive start to his week in Hamburg with a comfortable 6-4 6-1 win over Russian Dmitry Tursunov. Murray never looked in trouble as he served around 70% of first serves in over the course of the match. The first set was won on a single break, as Murray served to love to take the set 6-4. However, the momentum was securely with the Scot as he broke in the third and fifth games of the second set, and despite a slight wobble on serve in the sixth game, he finally secured it 6-1. Andy showed many positive signs over the course of the match, achieving great length and power on his forehand and keeping his use of the drop-shot to a minimum. Murray’s clay court game will be tested in his next match with Gilles Simon waiting in the second round. That match will probably take place on Wednesday. Murray's post-match comments
He's a tough guy to play against because he's so unpredictable and can hit some really big shots.
But I think I served well and didn't get broken.
Last week, I lost a really tight match against a good player (Stanislas Wawrinka) and a bit too much was made of it because I felt I had chances against him and didn't play my best tennis.
I'm getting better on clay and I'm feeling a bit more confident now.
The thing that's difficult is when my game style gets discussed. I think I've got a fun game to watch. I'm ranked 14th in the world and supposedly I've been having a bad year so far.
Hopefully I'll be back in the top 10 soon.

Murray really back on form? Or just a win over someone who is dreadful on clay?

Murray really back on form? Or just a win over someone who is dreadful on clay? Well he had 63% 1st serves in, so the easier opposition may have let him relax a bit which he has not always done in the passed. If it was a good performance let's hope he can take it forward to the next round.

he played well and got his tactics spot on. i liked the way he played those slightly short angled cross court forehands to bring Tursunov towards the net to set up those passing shots - it was good to watch.
Tursunov made so many errors though. All Andy had to do was keep the ball in court for a few shots and then Tursunov would make a mistake.
Good stuff though. Should be interesting to see him play Simon.

Why not? All the press are saying his playing crap yet out of thousands of tennis players hes still ranked in the top 20.

Murray himself can't be bothered to play tennis outside of the top-10, therefore being ranked 14th is clearly very bad for him yet he says this

It was an easy game for Murray but still he played well and can build on that win.Lets just hope he dosent flop out against Simon. But he may well soon be back in the top 10.

Can't be bothered to play outside the top ten? What? I'm referring to his comments about quitting tennis if he can't get back in the top-10.

I suppose it is a bit contradicting. Maybe hes had a change of heart and realised he shouldn't have made a stupid threat and that he has been playing good this year despite what he and other people say.

Expected win, well done Andy - Simon will be a different prospect however.

If Simon was match points down to Tsonga, who was bagelled by Mahut on clay, Andy should have no problem with this match.
