Andy Murray is through to the second round of the Madrid Masters event after beating Radek Stepanek 6-4, 6-1.
The match went with serve until Stepanek was broken at 4-5 to give Murray the first set. The second set was a different story with the Scot delivering a superb performance breaking Stepanek twice to take the match.
There's no question, this is one of the best matches I've played since I've been on the Tour. He’s a really tricky player to play against, he doesn’t normally lose that comfortably.
When you have an injury on the wrist it takes time to get your swing back. Now I’m starting to return much better and hitting my forehand much bigger off the ground. If I can keep that sort of form up I have a good chance of doing well here.
I served well, passed well and returned well. Hopefully I can do that in my next match.
The 20-year-old will now face Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela in the second round tomorrow night.
