Murray handed bye for Toronto Masters
« on: July 18, 2008, 12:28:40 PM »
Andy Murray will have the fortune of a first round bye after David Nalbandian officially withdrew from the tournament, which is due to start on Monday.
It will signify 12 months of tennis since the wrist injury Murray sustained at Hamburg back in 2007.
The British number one reached round two last year, defeating Robby Ginepri in his comeback match, before then losing tamely to Fabio Fognini in a rusty display.
The draw will be made on Saturday at 2PM local time.
Update:
The draw has been make and he will face a qualifier in R2. If he advances as far as the quarter final he could face Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic.
R2 > Qualifier or Qualifier
R3 > Wawrinka (expected)
QF > Djokovic (expected)
The draw in full

This is hardly news, I was tempted to write about the golf, we're so starved of tennis right now.

It will probably make Andy even more rusty, come to think of it.
A bye is always nice to have though.

It makes his first match even more risky but at least we won't have a first round exit!

I don't feel particularly excited about this either, I feel Murray could easily screw up early, especially with him taking a holiday with Kim in the last week (speculation
).

At Wimbledon I said something like my gut says he is getting to the finals but he got owned to the raging bull in the QF

You could just say your gut got influenced by the money at stake. £12 no?

Although losing his first match will only be worth the same as a 1st round exit.
