Along with the other seeds at the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, Andy Murray has been handed a ticket straight to the second round. However, there he may face former world number one, Marat Safin.

Murray will find out his opponent when the winner of the match between Safin and Austrian Jurgen Melzer is decided. Following this potentially tricky first opponent, the number eleven seed has managed to avoid all of the top five until the quarter final, where he would possibly be given the chance to repeat his landslide victory of last week over the current number one, Roger Federer. However the draw is far from easy with an on-form Andy Roddick predicted for the fourth round.

The rest of Murray's draw is as follows:

R1 > BYE
R2 > Melzer or Safin
R3 > Karlovic, Berrer or Qualifier
R4 > Roddick (expected)
QF  > Federer (expected)

Murray confirmed for Queens Club
Andy Murray has confirmed that he will once again compete at the biggest warm up tournament for Wimbledon held at the Queens Club in London.

This year's event is scheduled to begin on the 9th of June and will also feature world number two, Rafael Nadal, world number 3, Novak Djokovic and defending champion, Andy Roddick.

Last year Murray missed out on competing at the tournament at which he burst onto the British scene in 2005 because of his significant wrist injury.

It's not terrible, for a Masters certainly. Although Roddick is on a bit of a high.

He meets Roddick in the 4th round, and Federer in the quarters. Its probably the hardest draw he could have got.

Other than Federer, its a good draw! Roddick might be tired, and now Murray has a slight edge over Roger and his illness! And he can certainly beat Nalbo or Davy if he's playing well!

I think Murray could reach the QF's!

His fourth round and quarter final matches are arguably the hardest possible. The possibilities for the fourth round were seeds 5-8, and i would say Roddick is the hardest from those. In the quarters he could have faced any of the top 4, and he got a Federer out to prove a point.

The draw could have been worse although it could have been better.

And my other point still stands, he didn't "manage" to avoid the top 5 till the quarters - it was very unlikely he would have met the top 5 before then. The top 4 it was impossible to meet, and the chance of meeting the 5th was only 25%.

He couldn't have been in Fed's eighth, because he was seeded higher then 13th. His possibilities for the round of 16 were the 5th to 8th seeds.

Of the 5-8 group Roddick is the only one he has a positive h2h against. This makes him the hardest? Ok, I agree he's on good form but all three of the others are equally as dangerous. And Andy's game, if working, actually matches up really well with A-Rod. I think Nalbandian and Gasquet are probably trickier for Andy. As for the QF, I honestly don't think Federer is the worst of the top 4 he could meet. I think Nadal or Djokovic would be a bigger hurdle for Andy.

And my other point still stands, he didn't "manage" to avoid the top 5 till the quarters - it was very unlikely he would have met the top 5 before then. The top 4 it was impossible to meet, and the chance of meeting the 5th was only 25%.

It was still possible, therefore he still managed, albeit more unlikely than it suggests. lol

I did say 'arguably'! If you'd have asked me before hand for what i would want the least, this combination would have probably been it for me!
My point for the 'manage' business was more that it sounds like he was dealt a bit of luck by not meeting a top 5 player, but thats not true... The truth is, the reason you probably wrote 'manage' was because you thought originally he only met Fed in the semis. That would then have been extremely lucky, not to meet a top 5 to the semis (it would have been so lucky because its impossible - you have to be one of the top 4 not to meet a top 4 till the semis!)

Are you all forgetting about Dr Ivo?  You seem to think he is already in the 4th round.  The way he has been playing ie, his last two matches, its nothing to get excited about.  If he gets to the 4th round, he would have played himself into the tournament and then its all to play for.  Its a good draw in a sense that he feels he needs to beat these players for him to consider himself one of the worlds best.  If he comes through this, which I think he has a good chance if he gets to 4th round, it could be the making of Murray.  It could be the time when he realises this is where he belongs - With the best and on the way to becoming 'best of the best'.

Draws......shmawz. If he wants to be top 5 he'll have to beat this lot regularly.....and has done. He damn near pwns A-Rod on his day and Fed will be torn between vengeance and sh*ttin himself (nothin to do with the mono Whistle )  I think we'll see Muzza raise his game here. cmon yeah

I hope so. This could very well be where he makes his mark. Show everyone he deserves that place in the top 5.
