You know what, I thought just the same when I first joined the board...However, unless you are going to delete all the non positive posts like happens on his official site, that is how things will be....
Indeed and if you spend one minute on AM.com, the 100% fanboy attitude can sometimes make you sick. And it's a disgrace that they delete negative posts on the new articles (and the forum I assume) for PR reasons.

However, matchpoint has a point which is there sometimes can be a surprising amount of negativity of Murray on this website which I'm sure turns some people away but this is what you get with absolute freedom of speech.

I won't dispute that a lot of the negativity, not the majority though, can come from me but I'm still a fan Smile

Just to return.
No, it's good to see the whole range of viewpoints - I don't mind even Fuz's comments. I think it's when I feel the balance becomes too pessimistic, as on this thread, it makes me uneasy.

There's already been a load of stick about the handling of past PR situations and the image created from them. Then when something is being done to redress it (if we believe what we read), it produces a load more negative comments. (and yes, I agree, I think uh-oh a PR guy; and uh-oh someone from the Sun) but then I prefer to just wait and see - maybe it will prove to be a good move if it just tempers Andy's character of being too down-to-earth; speaking his mind; wearing his heart on his sleeve etc .

Maybe I just like to feel a bit more optimistic about things than some do on this site!

and of course you may turn out to be right Matchpoint.  I am just soo fed up of all the spin that is put on everything nowadays and would so love the world to return to ideas such as integrity and realness, so I would probably have a thing against PR people whoever it was for!

I certainly hope it works for him.  I just don't really like it! Smile

I hate all this bulls**t, it really annoys me, if someone has a negative personaly, learn to love it, some people are just tooo sensitive, and like "Murrays being moody" I know I am whenever I lose. I just don't understand how these days, there's a book or someone you can go see, to tell you how to live or improve your life, it's bulls**t.

Couldn't agree with you more.

'You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time'

so you may as well just be yourself ..and as you said, learn to love/accept yourself.

I think that comment relates to some of the posts I have said in the past so I will clarify my stance.

I don't like the idea that Murray now has to have some PR guru to sort out his image, I would much prefer him be himself even if that means most of the public dislike him. When he pulled out of Davis Cup, my criticisms were that he basically lied about it for PR reasons, I would rather he always tell the truth. If Davis Cup isn't always his top priority then just say it.

I don't like PR for Murray, simple as that.

I think it's easy for us to say that it doesn't matter if the public dislikes him. It must be pretty hard to read some of that stuff that gets written - hard for him, hard for his family, and I bet his sponsors would prefer a more positive press, too.

Andy never seems fully relaxed in the media spotlight, even when he's just won a tournament, and I don't think he always comes across well because of that. The trouble is, the media are so powerful in controlling public opinion, so I'm not surprised he feels in need of help.

As for the "smile more" suggestion, if you look at some of the blogs on am.com, Andy smiles loads; he just doesn't seem able to do fake, photo smiles so the media perception is that he's a miserable so-and-so.

Also, the time he joked about the World Cup it didn't work too well for him. Small wonder he thinks twice before saying "Did you hear the one about..."

Thank you for letting me have my say even though I'm not a member!   Very Happy

Andy is a stupid little spoiled brat. He alienated his English fans at Wimbledon with his petty "proud to be Scottish" rant a couple of years back, and hasn't seemed to have learned his lesson. Wimbledon is a magical opportunity for a British player to have the whole (British) nation cheering you on in the worlds premier tournament regardless of being English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish or a Falkland Islander!  I hope Andy's parents feel as ashamed of him as we "Brits" all do! Hiring a PR guru to help the situation is symptomatic of a man desperate to undo his own selfish acts. I wish Andy all the luck in the word as a fan of British tennis but fear the worst if he continues to put his career before his nation. Being British means far more than being good at what you do Andy.

Andy is a stupid little spoiled brat. He alienated his English fans at Wimbledon with his petty "proud to be Scottish" rant a couple of years back

Prior to 2006 Wimbledon, Murray caused some public debate[28] with comments against the England national football team, stating that he would like to see "anyone except England" win the 2006 World Cup. He received large amounts of hate mail on his website as a result.[29] However, at a later date, Murray explained that his comments were said in jest in response to provocation from an English reporter who had asked him if he'd be supporting Scotland in the World Cup[30] knowing full well that Scotland had not qualified for the tournament. Murray also, after his win against Andy Roddick at Wimbledon 2006, expressed disappointment over England's loss in their match against Portugal at the 2006 World Cup.[31]
Yes it was stupid of him but it would be great if the Murray haters educated themselves on the possible reasoning behind his comments.
