KATIE GATER is in a race with former neighbour Andy Murray to become Wimbledon champion.
Katie lived two doors away from Murray in Dunblane, Perthshire, and used to practise with the Scottish tennis sensation.
Now the 14-year-old plans to emulate him after clinching the senior women's Scottish Indoor Championship, the youngest winner of the event.
The youngster said: <div class="quote_news">I played a few knock-ups with Andy before he moved to Spain. He wanted to win all the time and wouldn't let me win a point.
He even offered friends and me a fiver if we could return his serve but no one could get close to them.
It's great to see Andy becoming Britain's No.1 because if the boy next door can do so well maybe I can too.
He has given young players confidence. It seems impossible until you realise someone from your street can beat big names like Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt.
And I love Andy's determination. He doesn't want to be second best - and that's the attitude you need to be a winner.</div>
