Andy Murray has decided to withdraw from the Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven next week. Murray's website said that he "isn't ready to play" but still hopes to make an appearance at the US Open.

Only 24 hours before the decision Murray said,

The more matches I play and more I’m around the best players, I’ll start moving better.

I want to try and play better in New Haven and then get some matches under my belt before the US Open.

A decent run at the US Open now appears to be very unlikely.

So Murray has fully recovered from the injury yet withdraws from New Haven. How can this be a good move?

shocking no confused With a weaker field, surly this would have been a good opportunity for Andy to play a weaker opponent and again more confidence.

This makes absolutely no sense at all. Murray had us believe that the only problem is the mental hurdle yet he avoids playing a weaker field in an ATP event.

Once again he's said one thing and then totally U-turns on it.

.. which makes the (old) quote on the homepage look a bit silly.

We're not being told the whole picture... remember Wimby? They're giving away as little as the press will let them get away with.

Dear lord, he's a tennis player, not a politician. He has no obligation to reveal anything to the press or the fans.

I didn't say he had to, I just pointed out that we don't have all the facts which is why we're having problems understanding the reasoning behind this latest decision.

 Good posting!

Let him get on with whatever he feels he needs to do then show up for the matches to support him is what I say!

If some fans have trouble with getting their hopes up, frustration and impatience then it cant be Murray's major concern - im sure he's suffering with frustration far worse than any of his fans. Right now any fan would be wise to have minimum expectations until he wins a few matches.

I don't believe politicians ever reveal anything worth while. We'll have to wait and seeRegarding Andy,.Is Cincinnatti(can't even spell it),an unpopular tournament?,Gasquet,&Nadal retired injured from their matches.Wonder boy,Nole, got beaten by Carlos Moya in two sets.Gonzo's out do they all fancy a holiday??Really makes Andy's match nightmare that it was pale into insignificence.I'm of the opinion that Andy was too keen to play at Wimbeldon&tried to force the wrist too soon, and he's probably doing the same thing again to play the US open,Keifer said he tried to come back too soon and made things worse Mardy Fish said he came back &ended up needing surgery, and it's only now over a year later he feels his wrist is o'k.Andy is Scottish&stubborn he's probaly driving Brad&jamie nuts.

I have a similar problem with my left wrist and you cannot predict when you are going to be able to use it, mine has felt fine for weeks now, I've been out cutting down trees in the garden and other heavy duty jobs, I went to bed last Wedenesday night and woke up in agony in the middle of the night, I couldn't even turn on the tap or pull my jeans up, I can't imagine what it would be like if it was my right wrist as I'm right handed, so I have every sympathy for Andy, I'm sure he quite genuinely feels okay when he says he does, the pain just comes on so quickly that there is no warning.  Maybe he should start practicing a left handed forehand so he doesn't have to rely on the right all the time.

Does this mean he won't be playing USO or will he give that one a shot?
