Since arriving in Spain this morning, Andy Murray has picked up a virus and therefore has withdrawn from his next tournament in Valencia. With the previous year' being ravaged with injury for Murray, this is another unfortunate setback as he hoped to have a trouble free clay court stretch this year. Despite the illness, Andy and the rest of his team will stay in Spain to train. His next tournament will now be the Masters Series event in Monte Carlo.

If Andy's anything like Carlos Cuéllar, he'd have surely have recovered in time for Monday.

Could have been worse tbh, as long as he makes the mandatory events, then the ranking will surely improve. But still, would have been nice to have a full clay season.

For f**k's sake.
My thoughts exactly - I'm seriously pissed off. Djokovic was right when he said Murray doesn't take care of himself.

What? How is he supposed to protect himself from a virus? Walk around in an isolation suit?

I feel a bit sorry for Andy at the moment. With all the grief he's getting I'm not surprised he's vulnerable to infection, so I'll just be wishing him to get himself together and well and come back playing tennis like we all know he can.

My god, some serious over reaction. When was the last time Andy pulled out of a tournament with a virus. Not a sporting injury, but a virus, a cold, which we all get from time to time. Which Federer had earlier in the year.
I know you are all disappointed, but the reaction from some of you is ridiculous!
Taking care of yourself is not playing when you are ill and risking an injury.

Andy can't help getting sick. I'm surprised so few tennis players suffer from illnesses as your immune system can't be all that with all the training and stress.

Murray is known not to take care of himself in the sense of eating the right foods at least. He eats burgers and sh*t like that which means we can assume he doesn't get the nutrition a famous sportsman should get to keep their immune system in top condition. I admit this may have been out of his control and that's fair enough but there's also a good chance he could have prevented it if he made sure to eat the right foods leading up to a tournament.
