It's disappointing to read what some of you are writing here. Andy must be even more upset than you guys. He doesn't like going for so long without playing. We've got to come to terms with the seriousness of his injury. I am sure if he went ahead and played in Washngton and lost  first round, you'd be the first ones to complain bitterly and endlessly. If you want your champion to play while still injured, you really don't like him, you only like his tennis, but you can't separate both!

Beeb now also have the story on the front page: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/6905701.stm. Really gutted we have to wait another week.

I empathise with Andy on this one, recovery is not an exact science, and it goes in bursts. I'm injured at the mo, doc said 2 weeks max, I'm now in w4 and still not 100%. Since a week and a half it seems to just stall, the last 15% don't improve at all, which is bloody frustrating, and I'm not doing sports professionally, just to keep healthy, so I can't imagine what it must be like for the pros. Yes, he's got the best help around, but the body is still not a machine that can be fixed scientifically. Modern society seems to think of it that way, which is giving the medical people a lot of grief - both of my sisters complain regularly about this.

However, Mark has a point about Wimbledon, I don't think the Murray camp can ever have considered it seriously, but maybe within the larger field (i.e. incl. LTA/Wimb) they wanted to keep the run-up to the tournament in a positive mood. Let's face it, people don't buy tickets for Wimbledon 2 weeks before - they either enter a lottery months before or stand in line on the day... so commercially it wasn't really decieving people, it was more of a 'keep the troops happy' thing. Which i can understand. The sport has to keep positive connotations - just look at the tour de farce...

According to Carlos' blog Andy was going to have a practice to-day with Stepanek, just wonder if he played a couple of sets and found he still had a problem??Also had just started hitting again with the normal tennis balls up to last week he was still using light weight. With hindsight (Always 20/20)maybe
Washington is a little too early.has a lot of ponts to defend so was proably very keen to get back.Sometimes when it comes to health and injury, tincture of time isthe best medicine.
That sounds like the best explanation of this weeks pull out.

Maybe he seen a close up of Stepanek's face, cringed then said his wrist had flared up again lol
roflmao

I'm disappointed. Obviously his wrist injury is the most important thing, but the fact the whole lot of them are saying "Andy will be back" and "i WILL be back " etc etc etc. It's very frustrating for all of his fans. not amused....
That's the most disappointing thing about this.  Rolling Eyes

Annoying thing is he will probably take the rest of the year out and miss the US Open Frown
I wouldn't be surprised if he is out for months rather than weeks Frown
Yeah, that's also what I started to think last night.  Rolling Eyes

I'm also surprised that hasn't been on. lol

I'm really concerned how he will perform when he returns to play the world's best... all he's done is played with his mate Carlos and clearly struggled against FishFace in practice. The sudden change in skill level may be really difficult to deal with.

He's also been practising with Brad,Carlos trained at the same Spanish academy,he's also been practising with another player,(Who managed to throw up on court, remind you of any-one).Also when you think back andy went from playing in juniors to playing Wimbeldon, and putting out Bastl,&Stepenak, dare say he'll cope as long as his wrist is at the stage to be able to hit all his shots again

I'd hardly call this a conspiracy theory. Basically he suggested to everyone he would play but then didn't at the last minute as he always knew he wouldn't.

...the only motivation for which would be to piss everyone off.
I don't buy it.
