Actually, underneath the insults, he's got a point as far as I'm concerned. I like Andy, and when he was a teenager, I accepted the 'moody teen' behaviour, but he's now been on Tour for more than 2 years, he's not a 'youngster' any more, and he should have matured a bit. I don't mind the 'in the heat of the moment' shouting at anyone and everyone, but off-court he should have wisened up a bit by now...

plus we all agree he needs a haircut and a shave! The sideburns are horrid.

He is the John McEnroe of the '00s, people will just have to accept that this is the way he is, he isn't gonna change and why should he, that's part of the reason we all follow his game, never a dull moment when the Murray man is on court.

I agree, what would you rather watch boring Mr. No Emotion Federer, or a fired up Murray?
That's why I first got into tennis watching Roddick get all agressive back in 2002/2003.

Quote...from Will Self.....".I want to be misunderstood, and the other thing that amuses me is I dont want to be liked.".......you can say that again! attacking a 20 year old sports man who has got to the top 10 in  the world, is very "grown up " and if I have the misfortune to ever meet him I will tell him so.  ranting Sticking tongue out. Fingers and tongue.

Dear gawd, Jonny Mac had charm??? He was universally panned and hated when he was Andy's age. It was only as an elder statesman that he metamorphosed ( in the eyes of the media) to being a "character".

He was the first champion at Wimbledon not to be given automatic membership of the place and the general concensus at the time was that he should be kicked out of tennis altogether. He just might have been if he hadn't been so talented.

Rolling Eyes Dont you just love it when journos rewrite history.

And very telling that Borg, perceived as the perfect gentleman could be a complete bast**d and certainly screwed his life up after tennis. Jonny Mac, however, is pretty well loved by his peers ( :p excpt Connors of course...that hatred was real) and is a doting dad and husband. Something Borg never managed.

Treat it as fish and chip paper, even if it is The Gruniard. devil

Murray responds to article

According to his article. I was the most charmless person he had ever met. I thought he was the strangest person I had ever met.

andy's one of the most boring players to watch on the tour right now (but really, it is a personal preference whom we find enjoyable to watch).  from the moment he got noticed on tour, he was clearly overhyped, and why... probably because he's the first YOUNG british player to BE noticed since forever.  sure he's good, but anyone at the that level SHOULD be, simple as!  Talent, hardwork - you don't get to top 50 without it.  he may be up and coming - but clearly that is all he still is at the moment.  he still has yet to prove himself when it has mattered - in a GS tournament.  So far, having played 10 GS's to date and the 4th round has been his best.  Tsonga, as played 5 GS's and his best making a Final.  Obviously, it doesn't matter how many GS's they've participated, point being is all the hype on him, when hasn't really set himself apart from the everyone else on the tour.  I'm sure he's a nice guy off the court, maybe even on the court - but, even as a murray fan, I admit he sometimes displays extremely poor attitude.  as exciting as we like the game to be, first and foremost should always be etiquette.
