[/eurl]Andy Murray failed to reach the final of the Hall of Fame Championship in Newport as he fell to a 6-1 7-6 defeat at the hands of Justin Gimelstob.

The American rolled the British number one over in the opener but Murray responded and came back from 0-30 at 5-4 down to force the tie-breaker.

The momentum stayed with Gimelstob who quickly went ahead in the breaker and clinched it 7-5 to seal victory.

The eighth seed now faces Mark Philippoussis for the title.

The Australian beat Austrian sixth seed Jurgen Melzer 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 6-0 to go through.

At least Andy must be pleased that he will at least move up the rankings, by earning 75 Entry and 15 race points
