Andy Murray made an impressive start to his indoor season at the Open de Moselle in Metz tonight, after beating Janko Tipsarevic, 6-4 1-6 6-2.

The British number one broke in the ninth game and served out a tight first set showing impressive and clinical service statistics. However, the young Serb showed his potency on quick surfaces when he comfortably levelled the match as Murray's inconsistent serve started to falter.

Fortunately for Murray, he managed to rediscover his form at the right time, as he broke early in the decisive set and coasted to an important victory against a tricky opponent.

The Scot could face either Michael Llodra or Werner Eschauer in the next round as he looks to regain top form.

Remember what I said Mark, he needs to win and make the final of Moscow AND St Petersburg and make at least the final of one (or both) the masters to even think about it. I think possibly a premature comment off the back of a R1 win...

Nah, no Shanghai this year but imagine where Andy could have been in the race if he had stayed injury free. Frown
