Oh how I hope you are right! That is my root belief in Andy certainly but his attitude sometimes gets you thinking the opposite. Is he a spoilt petulant teenager or someone who manages to put his foot in it when he opens his mouth and is mis-understood. Not everyone can be sqeaky clean an' wholesome like Novac - Andy is not a clean-cut sunny personality like his brother, he's - well he's Andy and I don't doubt his dedication and determination - he does, indeed, need our SUPPORT and he'll certainly get mine. yay yay yay yay
Yeah and he without a doubt has the support of all of us here (apart from a couple) and we will support him whether he is dropping down the rankings or is in top form. As long as he makes the right decision with his coaching options, I expect to see him in Shanghai at the end of the year.

Unfortunately some readers seem to think that criticism means you're not a fan and that is a very sad and unproductive misconception indeed.

There's no way Andy is going to hover in the top 20 for a couple of years.  He'll be back in the top 10 this year.  He's got the talent all he needs is the consistency.
I agree with Senga and Mark completely and, even if he loses against Nadal, it will be a super match if he gets there next week and one, I'm sure he can be proud of. Nadal seems to bring out the best in him somehow.

We know he is going to lose against Nadal, that's almost a certainty but hopefully Murray will come out of it having learned some vital lessons that will boost his future performances on clay Smile

1) I am not just talking about andy's quotes, I am talking about the information in the whole article.

2)I am emphasising also 'when' the comments were made, which to my mind is highly relevant.

To repeat, it is strange that this 'shock horror story' has not been picked up by another source since the comments were made ie after the Ancic match.

So you just believe all the quotes you read in the papers?
Unless you actually hear the interview you can't tell if it has been reported accurately, the manner in which it was said etc.

That is the problem with a printed article. Of course the Independent probably kept the story back from after the Ancic match so that they could put the article with a sensationalised headline in their weekend paper.

I don't think it's worth getting in argument with matchpoint, it's my opinion that he has a hidden agenda when posting in this website so there will never be a compromise in a debate. I might be wrong but that's my observation thus far.

Well I was just wondering what other sources he expected to pick up the story on?

The Herald covered it apparently, as did the Independant. And now, so have we. Where is the problem with sources not covering it?

Unfortunately some readers seem to think that criticism means you're not a fan and that is a very sad and unproductive misconception indeed.

I don't know if I'm included in that, Mark, but for the record I think it's perfectly reasonable for fans to criticise Andy, just not ALL the time, EVERY time he loses a match. I would like to see him given the benefit of the doubt a bit more often on here.

I do like this site and think the comments are worth reading, which is why I'm here! There's such a range of opinion I think I'm doing pretty well if I agree with as many as 30% of the posts. Also for the record:

1) people on am.com also criticise Andy and say he needs to do this, that, etc. The main difference between there and here is that foul language and abuse are not tolerated.

2) Nobody forces anyone to say positive, supportive stuff. If people are like that, it's how they feel. There's no-one deleting negative posts (I know that was an issue with the home page, but it has never been the case with the forums). I know you say you can't spend more than one minute on am.com, Mark, but if you dip into threads other than the MW one, you might get a more balanced view of the site. BTW, what is a "fanboy"?

3) The "Andy might quit" story is being discussed on am.com, just not on the home page.

4) With reference to a comment I read on another thread, am.com is cited as having 300 members compared to your 1000+. Are all those members of yours active? Am.com underwent major changes in March and all members had to re-register, so the count went back to zero and every one of those 300 has taken the trouble to rejoin in the last few weeks. Please compare like with like, if you're going to make comparisons!

Thanks again for letting me post on here.

PS Sorry for being a tad off topic!

Sorry Tommy. Your post would have offended many readers and considering it was posted on what will be a very high interest news post, it was best to have it removed. At the end of the day, your post did break the rules so it was within our right to make such a decision.

Thanks again for letting me post on here.
Thanks for your views on this and just to clarify regarding the AM.com issue, I didn't say it wasn't being discussed but I did say there was a news blackout.

I'm happy you like to read the opinions over here and hope that will continue Smile

I won't deny that we often don't enforce rules but when it's done on such a high profile news article then it is more appropriate to take action.

What's the argument/point that you are trying to make? Unless you make it I can't really have any sort of conversation with you.

I read the article in the Independent today, and I mostly agree with Andy - he needs to be aiming high, because he has the natural talent. Smile

Murray faces Del Potro, by far the best upcoming clay court player at the moment, simply his worst opponent possible in r1, will face Wawrinka in r2, one of his worst ever opponents, while the clay king himself awaits him in r3; this draw is definatily another setup against the Scott (check one of my previous comments to see what I mean).  ranting I'd really like to hear the guy's own thoughts about this...
