Andy Murray booked his place in the semi-finals of the Qatar Open, with an entertaining and impressive 7-6 6-0 victory over Thomas Johansson.

Both players started brightly, endearing themselves to the crowd with some fantastic rallies and variety. The British number one displaying his whole repertoire of shots, with sliced defensive lobs and some fantastic pick-ups at the net standing out in particular. However, Johansson was relentless, and he forced Murray to serve to stay in the set twice.

The first set tie-break was tightly contested, with some controversial decisions from the umpire but Murray held firm and sealed the set with an ace.

Momentum had clearly shifted to the Scot's favour, and he quickly broke Johansson to lead 2-0 in the decider. The Swede was left trailing in Murray's wake, as the twenty year old stormed ahead to clinch the second set, without dropping a single game - the third time he has achieved the feat all week.

Up next in the semi-finals for Murray will be the victor of the match between Nikolay Davydenko and Dmitry Tursunov.

I'm really glad to see Murray has got so many bagels already, he used to always lose concentration at the last moment but now he goes all the way clap

He seems to be controlling his temper better, he actually smiled at the umpire over his bad calls  w00t

Wow yay Very Happy  I just watched the ending on my Sky+ to see what the final score was.  Kim looked rather bored when he won.  You'd think she'd crack a smile at least. Think

She's probably not much of a tennis fan so I understand her being bored but yeah, there should have been a smile!

Why?

Most people aren't, it's just a probability.
