ANDY Murray admits he must be careful what he says after a joke was misconstrued following his opening match at the Heineken Open in Auckland.
I love the fact that he says stuff like that - although obviously it's pretty insulting and not a fab idea to say it in an interview. I'm sure he has total respect for the girlies though.

The Scot, who bowed out at the second-round stage to Mario Ancic yesterday, was still upset at the reaction to his quip that he and Kenneth Carlsen had "played like women" in the early stages of their tournament opener.

Murray said:
I make one small comment, which was a joke, and it was taken completely out of context. There is still a lot of pressure on me - I have to watch every single word I say.

I was watching a Hopman Cup match on TV from here and [Svetlana] Kuznetsova said it after there were nine breaks in the first set, so that is why I said it.

I am going to have to change a little bit and not be myself as much as what I have been so far, because it is a little bit unfair on me how I get treated.

Murray is going to lose alot of fans if he is not careful. Who cares if he upsets the media he is only being true to himself.

Oh no - I'm really worried now.... no  It sounds to me like Andy's becoming more and more contrived and clearly... this is having an effect on his tennis.  I think much of his motivation last year came from a will to prove himself and he thrived on the buzz of being the surprise package.

Hopefully it won't take him too long to find his niche up among the big boys - and hopefully he'll realise that you can't be anything other than yourself or you end up like poor Tim - all stifled and buttoned up (and chokey).   #-o

C'monn Andyyy - get back to where you were last year - let's see and hear the passion...   cheerleaders
