Thank you Master Murray, off to the bookies to pick up the winnings......again. As a loser you're a dead cert.

It's dreadful that Lloyd found out via the LTA rather than Murray. Maybe Murray is too ashamed to tell him because he probably knows that Lloyd will know the real reason.

I don't know, I think Jamie has the best chance of winning his rubber

It's gonna really confuse the general public when he shows up at Rotterdam(?) on the Monday. Especially considering the telly has just stated 'citing recurring knee problems'.

DC organisers could dictate the surface of play based on the weekend it's played. Would that make the April tie clay? It would certainly stop these Argies putting everyone on clay all the time. But then where would we stage clay ties? Or outdoor hard for that matter?

Lloyd responds,

He's played in all the matches that I've been involved in so far, so as far as I'm concerned he is [committed].

He says he's very disappointed and obviously I take him at his word on that. I don't think he would pull out unless there was an injury, why would he?

Confidence is clearly high among the home side, with Acasuso saying:
I think that with Murray in the team they were not the favourites, without Murray they have no chance.

Andy Murray was the main rival for Argentina to beat, but now Argentina is the clear favourite to win the tie.

Tell us something we don't know Acasuso. It's like when Ljubicic couldn't play in September.

It's not fair that Lloyd and the team only found out from the lta. Andy should have been in contact himself.

Although I'm sure Lloyd must have had his suspissions. Why stay at home and train on hardcourts when you could be out in Chile with the team playing on clay?

andy's behaviour is unpfroffessional to say the least he has to get injured at the most important times. I feel really sorry for the team and john Lloyd. I am going to concentrate on the women's fed cup they have got more of a chane then winning.

Now that is a little unfair. He had a major injury last year and he didn't miss a single DC tie. Ok he always seems to be below par for them but at least he plays.

Ok we all think he's being really selfish and unprofessional. He could have gone about it differently. But how would we have reacted if he'd done himself permanent damage in order to play a tie we would probably have lost anyway.

I was speaking to my Dad last night who used to do a little bit of sports injury medicine and I told him what the knee condition was and he was genuinely surprised and said he'd have to be really careful with that cause it could ruin his career.

And, quite frankly, after last year (and the fact this injury has seen him out of action for a considerable period in the past) I don't blame him for being over cautious.

He just went about it the wrong way. Although it's not his fault the fate of the team lies with him.

Yeah I don't blame him for wanting to quit Davis Cup with all the surface changes, I'm just a bit disappointed he didn't tell Lloyd first. Also, I'm disappointed that he is reluctant to tell the truth rather than put spin on his actions.

I don't like DC much so I'm not so bothered about him withdrawing, this will give some of the other Brits a chance to have a go, a team is made up of more than 1 person and we shouldn't expect Andy to carry everyone else, it's not fair.  And as for John Lloyd not being told in person, one newspaper states that, and who the hell believes what's written in the papers?

But are we surprised after the Wimbledon carry on?

No, Murray is unfortunately turning into a spin machine which is so sad because one of the reasons I became a fan because due to his honest and outspoken personality.

But that's what situations like the 'playing like women' and 'support anyone but England' backlash has done. He tried being honest and funny and now he's just working the media like everyone else does.

There's being honest and then there's being tactless. Rather than find the middle ground, he's now become dishonest.
