Andy Murray is due to release his autobiography, 'Hitting Back', at the start of June later this year. However, the young Scot has barely started his professional tennis career, and therefore has achieved very little in comparison to what he will hopefully have done ten years from now.

The BBC share the widely publicised opinion that this release is more than a little premature:
 
The title of Andy Murray’s autobiography is “Hitting Back” and whether or not it heads straight to the BP bargain bucket totally depends upon the public appetite for pages of protest from a 21 year old who, by his own admission, is only just starting out.

It’s scheduled for release at the start of June which may be just in time for Wimbledon but, unfortunately, not in time to include the story behind his first Grand Slam title or even his first Masters Series triumph.

The wild inconsistency to Murray’s tennis so far in 2008 should be more of a concern than “hitting back” in a premature autobiography.
Murray will join a long list of young sportsmen who have released a biography at the start of their career.

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy??  Theres no need for a book yet!  

I can't see any problem with publishing it, as long as any profits made from it are donated to the LTA, who provided him with money when he was starting out!...otherwise, it just shows him as a greedy young man!

I'd be surprised if there are any profits.
Who exactly does he think is going to buy this? And who exactly is going to buy this?
It may even reduce the number of his fans ...

I see only negative publicity and no upside to this, except for his ego.

I said several months ago on his official site that I think it's ridiculous to bring the autobiography out before he has really achieved anything of note.  He should keep it unpublished but constantly updated so that it can be brought out fairly quickly should he win Wimbledon or the US Open or whatever (which I do not expect to happen this year).

I don't think it's been discussed again recently - if it has, I've missed it.  Of course the previous discussion was on the old forum, which has now been removed.  Maybe I'll have to start a new thread about it on the new forum!

I'm not new, I must have joined a year or two ago but forgot that I was a member until you sent me an email recently!

By the way, I think the few people who were completely blinkered on am.com have woken up (I would say it is unfair to tar them all with the same brush).  Even the person who would never hear a word 'against' Andy now believes in constructive criticism.
