Brad Gilbert plans a winter of hard grind to propel the fiery Scot into world's top eight by the end of 2007

When I first saw Murray, I thought this guy walks real slow - but then I saw how fast he moves. [Pete] Sampras was the same. He had that kind of hangdog look where it seemed he could hardly take another step. And then he'd play like a dream. Murray also talks real slow but he's a very bright kid. The cover tells you nothing about the book inside.
Struggling against Andy Roddick, the 19-year-old turned to his new coach and yelled: "You're giving me nothing. I'm dying out here."

That's why I wear black and sit there like this [folding his arms] behind the shades. I don't clap too loudly or act disgusted, because he's the one doing it. That's the greatest thing about tennis. Two enter, one leaves. It's as stark as boxing. That's why I'm not going to show my emotions when Murray vents his. I don't think he's mad at me personally but I'd like to see him curtail it a little, because - apart from [Jimmy] Connors and [John] McEnroe - I don't know anyone who plays better when angry.

Nope. It was Henman in the first round wasn't it?

Then Federer, then Ginepri and then lost to Roddick in the QF's.

It's pretty tough with 0's for 2 slams and 3 masters... Not impossible but pretty tough. He needs to be on around 2100-2200 to be there or there abouts at the end of the year. He's sitting on 2085 today, with 150 dropping off for Wimbledon that puts him on 1935. He needs to make about 200 more points on top of the results he had last year.

Points to defend from last year:

Newport- 75
Washington- 140

Remember, these points can be replaced or added to at any ATP level tournament between now and the end of the year. So 2 titiles would gain him 135. A final and a title 100 point gain.

Toronto- 225
Cincinatti- 125
US Open- 150
Paris- 75
Madrid- 75

Seedings can help him here where they didn't last year. Paris and Madrid are a great oppertunity to pick up points where he only reached R16 last year. If he can do back to back semis in the US ones that can gain him 100, Quarters at US can get him 100, semis 300, final wound gain him 550 points and would pretty much secure it for him! A couple of quarters in the last 2 would bring in 50 points each.

Two or three of the above achievements on top of equalling last year would probably do it but as always it depends on those around him and what they're up to. Remember 2100 points didn't even see him in the top 10 at the beginning of the year.
