What on earth are you on about?

As in, you believe in conspiracies and plots and so forth. You sound as if you fully expect a democratic government such as in the US or the UK to suddenly become a dictatorship.

bulls**t basically.

And chris, I haven't read your link, but you say "only 27 amendments" 10 of which were the Bill of Rights. Hence, you appear to back me up in that it's hardly been changed?

As for arduous... what are politician's paid for.... but oh no, the good old america citizen won't change the constitution..... Rolling Eyes

My point is, "the right to bear arms" is an outdated pile of sh*te that should be abolished. You only have to look at the gun deaths in the US to see that.

Nope didn't say that, I certainly do not expect the US government to suddenly turn into a dictatorship. I simply said it would prevent an oppressive government taking over. That could mean another country invading.

Exactly, the bad guys will get the guns regardless but the good guys are left defenseless when they would only use them for protection. However, I do agree with some restrictions - you don't want a mental guy or someone with a bad criminal record being given a gun.

Anyone who is interested in understanding what's in the news and issues of the world a bit more, might like this forum  http://www.politicsforumpoliticalworld.com/

It is an American forum but has people from all nationalities posting there and is very active.

You will not get a quick answer but you will be able to hear plenty of different points of view, many passionately made, and gain sufficient knowledge on any of the subjects there to come up with your own opinion.

Because this site does not enforce these rules

'Personal Attacks/Insults: While debating and discussion is fine, we do not allow rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks.

Baiting: No baiting. Dropping things in the forums just to stir the waters will not be tolerated.'

it compromises it's ability for free speech, so I thought that an alternative might be welcomed by anyone with a genuine interest in the news and world issues.

(As no doubt someone will want me to tire myself pointing out where Murraysworld has not enforced these issues, you would need to be blind not to see it, so I will not.)

We don't generally enforce these rules unless there is a troublemaker and therefore free speech is certainly not compromised on this forum. See that list of rules as a formality which is necessary to protect our moderators for when they need to use them in rare circumstances.

You seem mistaken - here are the rules of politicsforumpoliticalworld.com:

Rule 1: No direct personal attacks (i.e. Person X is an idiot). That means no insults in posts or in private messages.

Rule 2: No indirect personal attacks (i.e. I dislike Person X's idiocy).

Rule 3: Discuss the issue and not your opponent. Discuss what your opponent has said, not the opponent him or herself. You may discuss and criticize a posters opinions, preferred policies or the actions that the poster has said they have taken. No speculation about the personal lives of other posters.

Rule 4: No trolling. Trolling is defined as baiting or provoking another poster with rude, disrespectful, or condescending remarks. Trolling also includes posting up comments that de-rail thread topics with nonsense.

Rule 5: No commenting on moderation in public, or mouthing off to moderators upon receiving a warning or penalty from them in private. Moderation may only be discussed or disputed via the report post method illustrated here: Disputes/Complaints on moderator-issued penalties, warnings or comments

And if they decide not to enforce their rules then we can safely say that both this forum and theirs are equal in allowing freedom of speech and therefore I must wonder why you recommend that forum based on that single argument?

Anyone seen the stories on John Prescott? Pretty interesting... must've taken a lot of guts to admit that if it's true... most people normally associate such an eating disorder with young women...

Yeah, it was pretty surprising. All credit to him for speaking out about it - hopefully it'll give others the inspiration to get help.

I saw a video clip of him admitting it, he has gained more respect from me although I already had quite a lot of respect for him after he punched that idiot in front of the cameras.

Yup definitely.... EDs are something that i think need to be acknowledged more - sufferers need to be encouraged more to have the confidence to get help. Smile I respect him for it - it must've been a hard thing to admit to the public.

I must admit I laughed when someone in my Politics class told me about this today, because well, he's a large man, and it just seemed a tad ironic, but I realised that I wasn't being very sensitive after I read the article etc, all credit to him.

Most bulimics go unnoticed due to the fact their weight rarely changes... it's only usually when it's bulimia and anorexia together that weight loss happens.

I know that now, I'll admit I was uninformed about it, now I looked it up a bit, I understand. I guess people usually see Bullimia as better than anorexia, and for me I know it's less heard of.

Brick wall God I hate politics!

Just seen a report on the news about this and I'm trying to work my head around it.  But from what I just seen on the news is if you earn less than £18k and have no kids you getting the bad end of this.  Wheres the fairness in that?  Could any of this change in the elections soon or no?
