He's not obviously a moron, what a ridiculous comment to make based on him cycling through a red light.

It wasn't based on him cycling through a mere red light. It was based on him being stupid enough to break all those rules (whether they be minor road rules like going through a red light or going the wrong way round a traffic island or something else) when he should well know cameras are always on him. I just think it was quite a stupid thing to do for someone in his position. It may seem trivial, but it's not really about cycling through a red light. Some voters may reconsider whether they would like someone who could be so stupid running their country.

Just to be clear, I don't think he's an idiot for cycling through red lights and cycling the wrong way down one-way streets specifically (although one might argue they are not particularly intelligent things to do, but that's a different point). I think he was idiot for breaking such rules knowing full well that someone would notice (or in fact, for not realising that someone would be watching!), as someone in his position is always watched. It's trivial as I said, but what other mistakes could the guy be stupid enough to make when running a country? Just makes you think IMO.

If a voter changes their mind because they think he might be stupid based on these recent events then they are have no idea of Mr Cameron and therefore shouldn't really be voting in the first place. Anyone who just watches the news now and again will know he is a very intelligent man.

Everyone has the right to vote, that's the whole point of Democracy isn't it? So why should someone whose opinion may be changed over something like this have any less right to vote than you?

I don't doubt there are plenty of undecided voters who don't follow things that closely, but may see incidents like these on the news which may make them consider whether this man is who they want running their country. In this respect, what he did was incredibly stupid.

If this is indeed the case then yes what he did was foolish but I have, maybe unrealistically, a hope that people in Britain are not so stupid to place their vote based on this.

I agree entirely with Mark.

Alex, I think that what you are saying, while valid, would be incredibly disappoiting to me if it were true. If someone decides not to vote for a politician (be they party leader or not) due to the smallest traffic violation which is frankly a joke, then they themselves are quite pathetic and shouldn't be voting based on that.
