Actually, most people who earn less than 18k it's cause it's a part time job and second income. And actually that is the bracket that most single parents fall into so it's pretty much the opposite of no expenses.

Ok, second income, like my mum working x hours per week and earning less than £18k. True, she is worse off. BUT my dad who earns over £18k is better off, so overall, they are better off. So in terms of second income, the 2% reduction in the first earners tax should outweigh the loss of earnings in the second earner's tax in most cases.

And the government has increased tax credits anyway.

At the end of the day, their argument is MOST people will be better off. Which is probably true.

Other than that, you end up looking at individual cases etc etc.

Petrol stations run dry as early buying begins

There was no diesel available in town today!  I am wondering what companies like Tesco are going to do.  Will they buy their fuel from the Continent?  Will they bump all their product prices up by 20% to pay for it?  Will they remember to reduce their prices by 20% when this thing is over?  Why is there only one refinery?  Will the Govt get off its derriere and introduce some refinery competition? Projected national vote share something like this... Conservative 44%, Lib Dem 25%, Labour 24%...

(At a general election that would be a pretty massive landslide for the Conservatives...)

Thats brilliant John!

Labour has had its wrost local elections since 1968! Yes, 1968! The Conservatives have made gains similar to Labour right before the 1997 Labour landslide election victory.

What a victory! Very Happy

There's been quite a few new promising developments in cancer and I think with nanotechnology's inevitable use in future treatments, I don't see cancer being much of a problem in 20 years.
