Andy Murray has blamed the Lawn Tennis Association for hampering older brother Jamie's tennis career. Murray said: He was number two in the world when he was around the age of 13.
Then he went down to an LTA school in Cambridge and they ruined him for a few years. It was their fault. But I really want him to come back and do well.
My brother is very talented. He is a good guy and he works very hard. He wants to be a tennis player and I think he has shown he has the talent. Felgate, from the LTA, said: The LTA recognises that different players react to different approaches which is why we have introduced choice and flexibility into our performance system and continue to support our best players wherever they want to train. - Full Story (bbc.co.uk)

It must be so tough for them both to deal with the way things are in terms of their tennis. I think Jamie is very talented - some of his doubles play was truly outstanding on Sunday night. God knows sibling rivalry is hard enough without all the added pressure the Murray boys have to deal with thrown into the mix. I guess its easier when they are not seeing each other often, but to have to come together after all that's happened to Andy and deal with all the feelings both must have had inside, and then go out and play good matches - couldn't have been easy.

To be number 2 in the world only to go down to wherever he is now must have been very hard.

He outshone Andy in the doubles match. He was simply sublime at the net

Jamie was very impressive in the bits of the matches that I saw - I never saw his poor start to the Sherwood match.
But it is hard to believe he is 900 in the singles ranking. He looked a better player than Dave Sherwood for starters and he is ranked around the 300 mark.
Not sure I would want my brother to say I'd been ruined though. At worst the LTA have perhaps hindered his development as a tennis player. And he did spend a short while at the Sanchez-Casal academy but didn't enjoy it so came back to the UK.

Nope...I imagine he asked Jamie if it was ok though to say to the media. It has probably been twisted by the media (as usual)

Sometimes a statement like that is the only way to get a message across - and that message definately needed getting across

From The Times. (although i originally saw the article on the activeboard site)
"ANDY MURRAY will front the latest drive to get teenagers hooked on his sport tomorrow when he launches Raw Tennis in an NCP car park in London. He exposed a few nerves in the corridors of power yesterday with what was a damning one-sentence critique on failed mainstream coaching systems in Britain. "
Mark, Annie, Julia - up for some car park stalking?!!

Link to RAW tennis.. supporters include Marat Safin and Wayne Rooney. =D> Great stuff though.. finally we've got some development for teen tennis. A lot of this is inspired by Andy. http://www.rawtennis.net/supporters/?supporter=andy
