Best hand I ever played!
Hero (me): Q10
Short Stack 1: QQ
Short Stack 2: AQ
I raise a bit, 1 goes all in and 2 goes all in. Pots about 12000 chips and I've got 32000 or something. I need 8000 or so to call. It;s quite a lot for Q10 off suit, but I call anyway like a total FISH!
Flop: 10A5
Turn: K
River: 10!
LOL! I made a set and scooped the pot when i was about 6% favourite to win! Should never have been in the hand in the first place!

That is a problem with poker, your best hand can often only be achieved because you did something you shouldn't really have done.

Hey Neil ....... was chatting to husband about poker today and he maintains it is skill together with knowing when to fold ! Then he wandered into the realms of number crunching and lost me ......... the Shih Tzu and I rolled our eyes in the back of our heads and just drifted right off.

This is my table and chips. At ther moment I have to play in the living room, but when the extension is done, I'm setting it up in the spare bedroom!
I've got proper clay chips and used cards from TI in Vegas! Its pretty sweet!

Yeah we mainly play 5000 or 6000 in chips with blinds starting at 100/200. So wwe only really need 1000's and 100's.
I've got a friend who cloths pool tables and I might get him to do my table with my initials in the middle. Or something similar. And then get some custom cards made up with the same logo. And the place that I bought the chips from can carve a small logo on the back of the chips. I think that would look really smart. A bit OTT though!

Fair enough but what If a load of other random numbers come out. Then the best you have a double.

Yeah, but it's all about probability of winning. To be good at poker I was once told...
"It matters not what you have, but what you think your opponent has"
Here is a list of the best starting hands based on number of times they have won after being dealt. Those with higher EV are better.
http://www.tightpoker.com/poker_hands.html
My point is, that while any hand CAN win, it's very unlikely that 72 off suit, are going to beat AA.

If you want to know your real chances, then look at this EV table. The higher the better. This shows your probability of winning depending on what seat you are in!

Yeah but it just seems daft to me doing that. Because if someone buts loads down so you think they have good cards and you know yours are totally random why would you risk losing hundreds? Its a bit of a ball ache.

Exactly, you don't. You fold. But the person with say.... AA is
hoping
someone has AK or KK. Then that other person might call them. And most of the time, the AA will win and he'll be jumping for joy!
OR they might be trying to bluff and steal some chips.
I can't comment in your situation. I don't know what the blinds are and what they are raising by. generally, if you have a good hand, and lots of people have called the big blind, you raise is between 3-5 times the BB. If there's no one called yet, you bet 1-3times the BB. That sort of idea. I mean, if you have AA, you don't want people to fold, but you don't want to win a tiny pot OR risk letting someone with rubbish call the BB for the fun of it, and hit an awesome hand.

AK is more powerful than KK though. One's an assault rifle and the other is a submachine gun but whatever you do please don't bring a BB into the equation. What we talking about again?
