It's every possibility. Although Pim Pim could be Nole's next opponent so lets just hope he's on good form. He seems to be.

It will be a lot harder to beat Nole with the rain delays affecting the schedule.

If Djokovic wins Adelaide and Murray loses tomorrow, then Murray will be no.15! If Djokovic dosen't win the tournament, then Murray is no.14!

Exactly. Either way, in the top 16 for AO
= meeting Fedex as late as possible

How confusing is the rankings I always come on here to read where you expect Andy to be you're usually right I don't understand it as long as he keeps moving in an upwardly direction, that will do

It's all about points and numbers and 18th bests etc. It's not that easy to get to grips with but once you've got it you've got it. But don't worry. We're always here to help.

Arka's new calculations.
Quote from: Arka
If Andy loses in the finals
, he will overtake Djokovic (unless Nole wins it), Ferrer, Nieminen.
The best possible scenario is a ranking of 14.
The worst possible scenario is a ranking of 15.

The best and worst possible scenario is a ranking of 14.

Has anybody thought that if the ATP still had the old system where you got more points for beating a higher-ranked player then Andy would probably already have made top ten! I'm old enough to remember this but don't know when or why it was changed. Just a thought.

Unlikely Djokovic will lose to Guccione but you never know. Nadal has just lost to Malisse which is a bit of a surprise.

Nadal losing to Malisse is not a surprise... Nadal loses to just about every decent hardcourter in the top 30...

Baghdatis just lost a lot of points.
Not sure of the permatations, but I think if Andy does well, he will be ranked higher on the Monday after the AO.

OK, so not surprisingly Baghdatis is gone from the top 20. The 4th round potential meeting with Nadal would be huge. Not only would Andy earn 250 points for winning it (then up to 1750) , but he would almost certainly overtake Djokovic and move to 14th in the world +. (unless Novak beats Federer in rnd 4....) Ferrer and Berdych are also within reach if they underperform - making 12th possible just from beating Nadal. Haas, Ancic and Nalbandian also have points to defend (especially bandy) so if Murray were somehow to reach the semisand move to 1950 there would be an outside chance of top 10...

Really? His played one good match against a mediocre player and a poor match against Verdasco... how can you be satisfied already this week? I bet Murray wishes all his fans were as easily pleased as you
I want a fourth round match against Nadal, anything less is a disappointment.

I'm not particularly bothered if he plays Nadal. Although Nadal's a great player, I think he'll be burnt out in the next few years. I think he puts too much physically into each shot. Andy had the look of a killer in the last set against Fernando. Lets Go!
