NED came before Chav and makes much more sense. NON EDUCATED DELINQUANT. Chav just sucks. Admit it.

Thats very nice.  That could apply to many people who are not, as we English refer to as, Chavs.  Chavs are just .... Chavs.  Or Chavtastic if you will Very Happy

And how do I know if Ned came first.  No one down heres ever heard of it.

"In Scotland, Ned is the West Coast term and Schemie the East Coast equivalent. Ned is said to be an abbreviation of 'non-educated delinquent', and Schemie comes from 'housing scheme' - meaning council house or high rise flats. In Edinburgh, this sort of housing was built outside the town centre but in Glasgow it's all over the place, hence you're more likely to get spat on/shouted at/mugged at Irn Bru bottle-point on Sauchiehall or Buchanan Street than on Princes Street."

That's just an interesting aside, although Ned is more common throughout Scotland these days. Ned - 2001
