Rule Changes - 02/04/08 « on: April 02, 2008, 04:40:22 PM »

As of today there are two new rule changes:

1) There will now be a small group of members of our choice that are free to post up matchday threads. This is to decrease the frequency of someone not being available to post up a matchday. For the moment we have chosen: Yamor, nkp2, JohnW, invisibleman18.

This list is likely to change depending on how much the chosen members choose to help out. This group of people are also allowed to post up results regardless of whether they have Trusted Status. This group of people cannot decide on what tournaments are to be played. The staff always have the final word and can override any decision made by any member of this group.

If you are interested in having the right to post a matchday thread then feel free to express your interest here or via a PM to me so that we can consider you for the near future.

2) Only the top-8 members, based on their score at the end of the season, are allowed to participate in the Shanghai tournament. These top-8 players will need to reply to the last matchday thread of the previous tournament expressing their availability for Shanghai 48 hours before it starts. If this is not done then a replacement will be found based on the the next highest ranked player.

Just one question: do we post up matchday threads whenever, or only if the regular staff haven't managed to?

What is the basis for (2) ^
1) Conforms with the ATP.

2) Andrew thought of it and staff voted for its approval. I personally think it's a great idea.

Basically, I don't care for the way the site is administered, but to avoid mud-slinging and to preclude protracted and unproductive dialogue, let's just say I am temperamentally unsuited for participation in this style of Forum - so time for me to move on.

Why was it anything to do with the second new rule?

Chris, I'm finding it hard to understand why you're so upset but I'm going to interpret your last two posts as being objections to not having this go to a public vote.

Having rules voted on just by the staff gives a more accurate representation of what the players will want. If it were a public vote then a lot of members who know nothing about RTR would vote unaware of the consequences. Bear in mind the vast majority of the forum do not partipate in RTR and that there is no funtionality to only allow RTR players to vote in a poll. Secondly, out of respect to the organisers, I feel they should have more of a say on any changes that interfere with their job.

I think you're being unjustifiably dramatic over all this, please take a step back.

I doubt I will post matchday threads very often, but it will be useful for those times noone else has done it before I go to bed.
