clap is all that needs to be said.

Also I love the Shanghai addition! Only thing is though.... does that mean the Shanghai winner is the champ or is it the world number 1 who wins? lol

As with the ATP, world no-1 at the end of the season wins. Smile

What are we doing for ties. No one has yet come back to give their opinions on the whole tie matter....

Sorry, I don't keep track of this board enough. Please explain to me the problem in this thread and preferably give me your suggestions to resolve the issue and I'll make sure it gets sorted soon.

Alex, you are starting off with greast posts then totally going in the other direction! lmao

Right, here's my FULL PROPOSAL.

If after all matches are complete, two or more players are tied, the following shall occur.

- At the start of the week, post a finals prediction, with the player expected to win and in how many sets.
- The winner of the tie, will be the one who either gets the correct final prediction or comes closest to this.
- In the event that none of the tied players achieves a correct final prediction whoever got closer will get the higher points.
- Closer is defined as whoever had one player get further in the tournament.
- If this is tied, then whoever got their second player further in the tournament
- If this is still tied, straws shall be drawn for who gets the higher points.  ( to make it a closer competition you COULD change this to whoever is behind in the overall leaderboard gets the points.... but this situation I believe is unlikely)

This was based on the fact that we felt it unfair to allow previous weeks to count for this week's performance. So do away with bonus point for finals, and do the above. Was the suggestion.

Julia's idea initially btw, I just detailed it.

Can you explain to me why you want to get rid of bonus points for finals?

Because, we want to introduce a new tie system. Or at least that was the discussion. And a few of us said that the finals prediction was the best way to do this. So keeping the bonus points is pointless under such a system.

I.e. Say i get a 100% accurate finals prediction and I catch up with another player tying on points. I would then, under this new system, beat them due to a more accurate finals prediction, despite my predictions over the week being 5 points worse off. Seems a tab unfair for such a consistent performer (or indeed the consistent performers who finished between 1-4 points ahead) to lose out to someone who frankly "fluked" a finals prediction.

I was just thinking about rule 2 in the first post. Wouldn't it be better to have the same rules as the masters cup itself, i.e. top 7, plus one place reserved for a grand slam winner ranked lower? So, for example, using current standings, Neil who won the Australian Open would play instead of the 8th ranked even though he's only ranked 9th.

It is certainly worth consideration. Though unlike previous rule changes, I don't think any should be made during the season. I think it's best it stays as it is. After all, if I knew I was going to qualify for the MC, I might not bother with all the ATP tourneys...... search me

Nice idea and may be introduced, but not til next year is my recommendation.
