Share your experiences of ones you've already been to/planning to go to.

Never gone to one and I don't think I ever will... I hate the idea of these festivals where you get all dirty without showers and use those disgusting public toilets. Sounds like absolute HELL! And what for what? I'll load up my iPod for music, I don't need to see it live.

Fair Points! But to me there isn't anything better than seeing your favourite band/s live, it just beats the ipod hands down.

Have you been to any festivals? Or just individual gigs?

Me too. I love the Edinburgh festival, although I've only been to it twice.

I've been once. I dragged three friends with me who didn't really want to go and it was only for one night. And they loved it so much they said we should go back this year for longer
We'll see if that happens. We are going into discussion this Saturday about holiday plans so we'll see ...

I went two years ago for a day and a half, and once a few years back for even shorter...

I also despise festivals. Most people just go there to get stoned or laid (latter only possible because they're stoned
). It's not about the music any more. + It's icky circumstances! And so overpriced!
I do like live music though, things that are live are a lot more special than on the radio or television (tennis, football, music, cinema vs. TV).
But, to end positively, you might get to see some excellent artistes, Sarah. I think they like the atmosphere at festivals.

My brother goes to T every year but we're in Florida this year. Keep waiting for a headline line-up that'll tempt me enough to spend that money on living in that type of filth for 3 days but have yet to find one.

Festivals are generally awesome, but I can understand people not liking the camping aspect of it. Went to T in the Park in 2006 to see The Who, Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Editors, etc etc - absolutely fantastic.
Live music is at its best at outdoor venues IMO.
