Supposedly this is the real source ...............

U.S. Tennis Upward Trend Continues
Hilton Head, SC, March 27, 2008 -- The Tennis Industry Association (TIA) today announced the release of its "Tennis Participation Trends & Studies" research findings. The report details various survey's and studies conducted by TIA, SGMA and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
According to the report, tennis participation is growing with more than 25 million people hitting the courts. It's the first time since 1999 that participation has topped 25 million players, and it continues a more than five-year growth trend in the sport.

The US tennis people have been driving this for a long time now ......... I wonder if there will be any knock-on effect in the UK.

That's great tennis is growing but I'm having a very frustrating time finding tennis clubs in London, in fact I have official given up. They all seem bloody invite only with a waiting list. We don't have enough publicly available clubs in London, and I assume the country, to feed this growing appetite.

Andy Roddick Engaged to Swimsuit Model

Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker in New York in December
It's love - love for Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker – they're engaged!
The tennis star is officially off the market after popping the question to Decker last Tuesday, sources, including Decker's rep, confirm to PEOPLE.
The pair, who have been dating since 2007, first met after Roddick, 25, asked his agent to track down a number for Decker, 20, a model who has appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
No word yet on a wedding date.

Nice one Roddick, get in there!
The pair, who have been dating since 2007, first met after Roddick, 25, asked his agent to track down a number for Decker, 20, a model who has appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
He blatantly just saw her in Sports Illustrated and said to his agent, "Get me her number" and it all started like that

Tennis and TV Scheduling

Tennis and TV Scheduling
Interesting times could be in store with the retractable Centre Court roof at Wimbledon little more than a year away and the news that the BBC have just signed a new five-year deal to guarantee exclusive television rights.
Many is the tournament that has become a slave to the scheduling demands of a broadcasting network, usually to the detriment of primarily the event and the paying customers. Memories are still fresh of the ridiculous Saturday night/Sunday morning at January's Australian Open that saw Lleyton Hewitt still battling against Marcos Baghdatis with dawn just about to break outside the Rod Laver Arena.

MS Designation
« Reply #93 on: April 01, 2008, 01:39:23 PM »
MS Designation
......... starting in 2009, that the Masters Series designation would be replaced by a number — 1,000, to be exact, or 1000, comma inclusion to possibly be named later. Other events will be the “500″ designation, or “250.”

Safin seems to turn it on time and time again for the DC.
I guess he'll probably be relying on it soon for ranking points.

Spain are first through to the semis with Nando and Feli beating the Germans 6-7(3), 7-6(1), 6-4, 2-6, 12-10 in nearly 5 hours
If Russia wins one of the ties today, it will mark the fourth consecutive year they have been in the semis or better
