The Brits are such a waste of time.
I loved the Arctic Monkeys way of accepting the award, totally shunning tradition, and the way they took the piss out of the Brit School that every single winner harped on about.
Sharon Osbourne was so rude to Vic Reeves? that's his name isn't it? He said after that he wasn't actually drunk, but he was having trouble reading the autocue.

Pretty poor show overall IMO. Much better last year in the performances and the winners.
As hard as I try, I still cannot see why anyone likes the Arctic Monkeys. Personally, I find their music to be absolutely awful in both tune (although that's not really a word to use about them) and lyrics but apparently I'm in the minority there. They also made themselves looked the biggest load of twonks on stage too. What an insult to one the best, if not the best musician of all time to have them on the same stage he was about to perform on.
New Oasis and Coldplay albums due out this year so hopefully a better show in a year's time.

Yes they plan to release a new album soon too. Was a bit disappointed they were not nominated for anything but I guess they are not as popular anymore as they once were. Did expect there might be a performance at least though.

I don't know how you can't like them, their music is definetly not out of tune( I realise that you said that afterwards), and the lyrics are innovative and unique, they are one of the best live acts around these days, and certainly better than "Take That" who won that award, I don't think a pop act should win best live act, it should have been a actual live band.
As for them looking like "Twonks" that was the point, they don't take this award seriously, it's a wonder they actually showed up to the event this year, but they keep getting nominated and they will keep showing up to the event or appearing streamed and continue to look like "twonks."
We'll have to agree to disagree as everyone's music taste is different.

Indeed. I just think they are absolutely awful and their music is possibilty some of the worst I think I have ever had the misfortune to listen to. I didn't mean so much that they were out of tune, just that I find the 1 and only tune used for every single song to be quite bad. So each to their own.
But why shouldn't a "pop" act win best live act? Do they not perform live to sellout crowds who go home absolutely blown away? It's not a genre specific award.

As much as I want to rant about why their music is not awful, it's really pointless because yeah exactly, everyone has their own tastes.
I just don't think they should, Live to me means, guitars, drums, proper live, not choreographed(I have no idea how to spell that) dance routines, but again that's personal and to everyone live means different things.

Indeed again. Live to me simply means a band or artist who perform live to an audience. And I think that's what the 'Best Live Act' award is about.

But to me because I've been to both, Pop Live (back in the youth), and Rock Live, there's something more satisfying about the second.

I probably agree with that too, but that's because I'm more a rock style fan than pop. But big Take That or Westlife fans would probably find a pop concert like those 2 bands more satisfying than an Arctic Monkeys one. Was that one of the public voting awards?

I've seen the arctic Monkeys before and I saw Take That live in December and they were fabulous. Totally deserved the award. I think live act isn't just about the music, it's about the show. And Take That put on a show. And they were 100% live. How many 'pop acts' can you say that about? Their interaction with the crowd was second to none and you really felt like they cared whether or not the fans enjoyed the show. And 'Rule The World' was absolutely amazing. The effects and staging were fantastic, it's a great song and it was sung brilliantly.
I suppose, like you say, the interpretation entirely depends on what you as a listener are looking for in the performance. But the award is for 'Best Live Act' and not 'Best Live Rock Band'. So you can't exclude them from the running just because they don't play drums and bass (I was gonna say play their own instruments but that would be unfair on Take That because in most of their songs at least one of them was playing some sort of instrument). They put on a damn good show. And a sophisticated one at that. And it wasn't just all choreographed dance routines either.
