You're rude too Neil - saying "Xmas" is insulting to Christmas as a whole

I just think it's a bit disrespectful to take away "Christ" from "Christmas" when it's the entire meaning behind the occasion. It's like thinking of Christmas purely from the commercial and materialistic side of things and forgetting the true meaning.

But I'm not christian and don't believe in the traditional values behind the time of year and rather have grown up with the more modern non christian values of family, friendship and good times. So I shall call it Xmas if I like. If that's ok with you.
Contrary to your point, in fact, I feel it's MORE hypocritical to remember this time of year for the "true meaning" and indeed to call is "Christmas" when you are in fact not a Christian. Your come back to this may be "Why do you celebrate it at all" and I confess I do, but that's partly due to my upbringing. Hard not to celebrate and do anything at this time of year when everyone around you is. It's more about the opportunity for holiday time. It is a national time off work for a start, and it's always an excuse to have fun anyway.

By the way, Xmas is actually just an abbreviation for Christmas. The letter X is short for Chi in Latin (or maybe Greek, i can't remember).
Anyway, a merry Christmas to everyone who's as sad as me, and's online now!

Yes but almost everyone doesn't know that and why should they? Why mix two languages in one word? People use it because they are lazy.

I'm not Christian either but I generally try and only celebrate the actual true meaning behind it rather than the stupid Santa stuff. I'm personally not offended by you removing the most important part of the word but I am sad that so many people do it now. Also, I hate people who try and be politically correct and unfortunately "Xmas" is used by many who are afraid to associate Christmas to Christianity.
Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor, just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod ,
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.
But as Target was hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of Salvation and Grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The Reason for the Season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Holiday Tree'
While sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Shout 'MERRY CHRISTMAS', not Happy Holiday,
Our Country was founded under the Christian way
And to those who don't like it, we'll just have to say,
Take your hate elsewhere, you don't have to stay!!
And on that note, Merry Christmas everyone!!

Merry Christmas all
Also, Alex doesn't celebrate Christmas so he doesn't need to say Christmas or Xmas. And I also think writing Xmas is just lazy

English would never have been a language if it wasn't a mixture of every other language preceding it.
Also, Xmas is an accepted abbreviation, just like p.m. It's not like it's slang or anything.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to all of you...!
