The Other Brits : Women. « on: May 05, 2006, 10:16:22 AM »

Ladies and Gentleman, it gives me immense pleasure to start a brand new service from next week - The Women's and Girl's edition of Other Brits! No idea if you are interested, but I am going to do this.

N.B. It will take a few months to tune up my knowledge and a few more to fine tune it, so this thread will be much short of perfection unless someone else wants to contribute.

Can I please have your comments on this idea?

Customer feedback, you know.

I think it's great if theres people interested. Alot of focus is on mens tennis (yes- it is more interesting to watch!) and if more people took a slight interest in the womens maybe it wouldn't be branded as boring any more.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

I don't think womens tennis is boring anyway Amy..... far from it, in fact quite a lot of the matches are more interesting than the mens!

I mean that women's tennis is more competitive these days because there is more competition for the top 2 places.

I have decided to start this thing now. No matter how crude the service be, I'll continue.

This week we had the clay Futures event in Bournemouth.

These are the results:

Singles   http://downloads.lta.org.uk/webservices/TempResults/060501Bournemouth10KWomens/smd.pdf
Doubles http://downloads.lta.org.uk/webservices/TempResults/060501Bournemouth10KWomens/dmd.pdf

We can see the name of Deborah Armstrong oft repeated out here. As a WC, she reached the quarters in singles and also the semis in doubles!
Whats more, she is only 17 years of age! She was born on 16th Jan 1989, missing my b'day by a day.

Ill say she is one to watch out for along with Naomi Cavaday and of course, Jade Curtis.
