Katie O'Brien is back to being the British No. 1 at 118 in the rankings, are we soon to have a British women in the top 100?

Well done to Anne Keothavong for winning her third title this year, she is so nearly in the top 100 with a new ranking of 104.  yay

Woohooo!!  Hopefully she'll make a direct entry to the French Open and Wimbledon with that!

I think there are exactly 104 direct entries, so if she holds this ranking for this week, or at least doesn't fall more then a few places lower (there's sure to be some injuries), she should get it.

I'm guessing there will be a few people withdrawing through injuries so she'd easily get in with that.

It's not very often a British woman would get direct entry to a Grand Slam without a wildcard, this may spur Katie O'Brien to get her backside in gear and try for direct entry to Wimbledon, she's 122 at the moment.

You'd think with her ranking that she'd be able to easily qualify for the French Open and hopefully give her enough points to get direct entry to Wimbers.  Sounds like a good plan to me Very Happy

I don't know what it is with the Brit women, they get on a roll and then don't seem to enter for the next couple of tournaments and go back the way again, and Elena Baltacha just doesn't seem to be able to shake illness, she withdrew just before her match last week, don't know why though.

It looks like Anne is definately going to be in the Wimbledon draw.  See this from the BBC.

I don't know how they can say it is guaranteed she could drop 20 places between now and the draw.  confused

I was also wondering that. I also didn't understand why she was guaranteed for Wimbledon and not Roland Garros? Unless she didn't enter by the cut-off date?

That's good news that she gets in directly.  yay

The entry list for each tournament (main ATP and WTA tournaments) comes out 6 weeks before the tournament starts so she wasn't ranked high enough at the correct date to get into RG.

Anne Keothavong has finally broken into the top 100 at 97, Katie O'Brien has risen 7 places to 115, can she make the main draw at Wimbledon on her own merit?  I'm not sure how long she has until the cut-off period, surely a couple of decent wins and a few withdrawals will help her get there in time.

I think its 6 weeks, so she's probably missed it.
