After the epic Moya match at Wimby, he could have left with his held head high regardless of losing in the next round!! I think that would have been a better bow out of the sport. I was never a fan of the man, but he did do a lot for British tennis

Tim Henman statement
After today’s speculation in the British press regarding my future in tennis, I will be holding a press conference in New York at 11:00am local time on Thursday 23 August when I will discuss my plans for the remainder of 2007.
Until then, I’ll continue to work hard on regaining full fitness ahead of the US Open which begins next Monday.

Time and tide wait for no man or Henman as the case maybe, but he can leave with his head held high and a healthy bank balance from his years on the tour.
I think it is the correct time to go (it may have been a season too many if the truth be told) but good luck to him in whatever he decides to do.

Agree. Some of you may not remember his first couple of years on the scene ( the first player to be kicked out of the Wimbledon ) but he's carried the flag for GB for years. I'll miss him and I was very sad to hear the news, overdue though it may be. Thanks for the rollercoaster over the last 12 years Tim. You were great, just not that little bit extra that seperates the very good from the Champs.

They are discussing Timmy's possible retirement on Radio 2 after 12.30. should be interesting to hear - will have to catch that on listen again facility.

It's been an amazing run for Tim, I think it's wonderful to see someone playing for so long purely for his love for the game.
