I know what a sparringpartner is, but can someone explain to me what he's suppose to do and how it al goes... Thank you so much!

No, it's used in tennis too. I have a friend who is a sparringpartner.

Never heard it in that context.

Yes. But I wonder if their travelling gets payed by the tennisstar or they have to pay it themselves and I wanted to know when you are invited to train and so on...

Taekwondo use the term "Sparring Partener" too. I'm a first kup (the one below black). It basically means the person you are sparring/fighting against whether in practice or a tournament.

Yes, it's a practice partner, who usually wears protective headgear and chest pads. The most famous incident of a sparring partner in tennis was when Boris Becker used to come up against Johnny Mac. He used to phone Stuart Bale, a lowly ranked Brit and fly him out to wherever Boris was and put him up in top hotels so he could practise againt him. Why? Cos Bale was a leftie, like Mac, and there weren't many around then.
