This looks pretty cool, I might buy it when it comes out.

The Balance Board looks slightly larger than a set of bathroom scales and contains pressure sensors that detect when the user leans, moves or jumps in time with the action on screen.

Despite not giving away full details of the various sports available, Nintendo has said users will be able to head virtual footballs or take part in ski-jumping. There's also expected to be some more traditional fitness pursuits too, including yoga and aerobics.

The game, which is based around Nintendo's Balance Board peripheral, initially goes on sale in Japan on 1 December for ¥8800 (£36/€53/$75)

I've just recently learned my ex bought a Wii last week.  Kinda gutted it ended now because I was starting to like playing on a Wii after having a go on Mark's, even though I was forced into that by Cate and Mark Whistle

Very unlikely.  Wii games retail for less than ¥6,000 in Japan.

If you go to wiiconsoles website  it says that the board alone will retail for about £40, doesn't say what the game will be but probably the standard price.  Looks quite good though, has anyone tried the Harry Potter wii game?

Read a review of it today in a newspaper, apparently it's a big hit in Japan and will be released in the UK later this year.

Doesn't seem very fitnessy.  My brothers got the Sonic Lympics game and he said that was a hell of a workout.  He was knackered afterwards.  Seems like a waste of money if you bought that.

I suppose it's meant for toning, like Yoga.

Yes, considering pre-ordering. I read a review and apparently it does actually make you work hard.

Re: Wii Fit « Reply #17 on: February 17, 2008, 03:28:01 AM »

That's whether you consider it a waste.

Wii Fit sold over a quarter of a million copies in its first week,[7] and despite not being released outside Japan, Wii Fit already passed the 1 million sales milestone in just one month since its December 1, 2007 release.[17][18] As of January 20, 2008, Wii Fit has sold 1,113,626 copies in Japan.[8]

1UP.com wrote a positive preview on Wii Fit stating that "there may be no easy route to fitness for me, but Wii Fit feels like something I could do several times a week. And it makes me smile."[19]
