Murray sparkles with Laura Robson
A column by Shooting Star for MurraysWorld.com on January 11, 2010, 01:08 pm
What started as merely an exciting prospect, gently kneading together two of Britain’s finest pounds of flour, proved to fill the Hopman Cup with the sweet smell of success.
Despite her tender age, and his recent break-up, clear sparks flew between Laura Robson and Andy Murray. Banter was batted back and forth like one of those fluffy yellow balls, with Laura taking the classic 'playing hard to get' approach, and virtually turning him down on the spot. I like to imagine that this was simply because, come 2012, she won’t want to be playing with her fiancée, but frankly, she could have let him down a little easier!
Have you seen his hands? They are pretty disgusting. - Laura remarks on Murray's sweaty hands after previously suggesting he use moistoriser.
Throughout their fledgling relationship, Laura made it clear that she was in it for the material gain, admitting her main focus was not on winning the title, but on the prize, diamonds!
I want those diamonds. - Laura speaking after her defeat to Dementieva.
Truly heartbreaking then, must their runner up trophies have been, but Murray, ever the gentleman, comforted her by promising diamonds for her sixteenth birthday later this month, a date tattooed on many male calendars!
With Murray clearly marked as a Scot on many British cards, a relationship with the delightful, and undeniably gorgeous, Laura, could prove to be the catalyst for his approval from the British public, or she could prove to be the teenager that broke their, already marred, respect for him.
As the Australian Open looms, no doubt Murray will rack up many column inches. As to whether they will be good or bad, and as to their content, only time will tell. After the devastating loss of Kim from Murray's 'entourage', I wondered if any woman would ever again fill the uniform of Ray Ban’s and gladiator sandals, or if any woman's hair could look so perfect, or legs so long. One girl is giving it a good go though - and Kim, I’m sorry to say, but I think she is winning us over.

I don't think so somehow.
They were just having an enjoyable time playing together, Jamie and Jelena were much more flirty and nothing materialised. To speculate on Andy getting sweet punani action out of this is absurd.

Society had absolutely no problem with Jamie and Jelena being together, where as a significant portion of society would frown upon Andy and Laura publicly expressing their enjoyment (romantically) of each other's company. So with that in mind, he may have had to try and restrain himself.
But you could easily be right of course, I just think both scenarios deserve consideration.

I didn't know that was a real illusion, so I was pleasantly surprised when I accidentally noticed pedobear lurking in that image

What it is to be a romantic! First, people had Jamie and Jelena married by the end of the tournament, now Andy and Laura will be engaged by 2012??? She struck me as a normal cheeky, flirty teenager, and Andy just enjoyed their banter. At their age seven years difference is quite a lot. Sorry!

Seven years may be "a lot" when compared to the typical age gap of a couple but just because it's slightly unusual doesn't mean it's bad

Sorry Emma, I'm afraid I agree with Andrew, no romance just a deal of appreciation one of the other and pleasure in playing together - super banter. She's a gutsy girl and it'll be grreat watching them both in the years to come. It was a super article though and very well written - are you a bit of a romatic by any chance? I am too but not with those two - at least - not at the present time but that's quite often the way things begin - friendships can lead to higher things.

The law might say it is wrong to have sex at 16 but the law doesn't decide when two people should be attracted to each other and whether they are a good match for a relationship. It's only human nature that they would be attracted to each other so good luck to them if there is any truth to it!
Only a couple of weeks to go now
