2012 USO Final: Murray vs Djokovic

I'd never get on his back. I'm happy with the 1 slam and olympic gold, anything else now is just a bonus

Teejay I have the same strong feeling as you that Andy will win the AO and Wimbledon. A couple of weeks back I dreamt  that Andy also won the French Open as well and did what Nole was trying to do last year. That would be out of this world, but stranger things have happened!

I'm glad it's not just me lol.

Winning the French would be stunning, but we'll see. Stranger things have happened though, I agree lol.

Prodigy, you took the words right out of my mouth in a way. I was going to say that I'm one of a bunch of us around here who never gets on Andy's back, win or lose. I don't start ranting at him in match threads either, or tearing my hair out by the roots when he drops a set, thinking that the end is nigh.

Nothing wrong with sharing a gut feeling though, as some of us have, especially when it is positive. If Andy doesn't win the AO next year, or Wimbledon, or if Andy never wins another major again, it's fine by me, because to be honest it won't directly have a bearing on my life, but based on how Andy has played over the last twelve months or so, and where he has done well, I'd say he stands a good chance of doing exactly what some of us think could happen.

Me too, I never get on Andy's back, just love the way he plays and the person he is, but still have this gut feeling. Looking forward to the pictures of the hat eating episode!

I'll join in with the alcohol too. I'd cope with being done for being drunk in charge of a wheelchair, it would be worth it lol.

I really hope he has a great 2013 after all according to the Maya (I think) we should all be long gone. So Andy you  are still here and 2013 will be an auspicious year for you.

Agreed. I admit to getting on his back a little during matches where he's not doing so well, but at the end I am quick to forgive him because I know 10 times out of 10 Andy puts 100% effort in Smile.

We don't have to worry about that now, because some monk called Alfred the small got our callender wrong by six years. So the world won't end on 21st December 2012! Great, Andy you'll have to miss SPOTY now to get into shape for the AO!!

The Maya didn't predict the end of the world - they predicted a turn of the astronomical calendar. Something the do with the sun/solar system crossing the galactic ecliptic I understand. So a New Age in their cosmology. Nostradamus was the doommonger. And we're more than capable of screwing up on our own account without the help of the Ancients. Whatever, lets hope its a good omen for Andy.

Photo editor Ella Ling presents her favourite image of the year:

“As one of the small group of British tennis photographers, we’d argued over what Andy might do on match point when this day would finally come. I’d been at almost every victory of his career and believed he would sink to his knees and cry, overcome with emotion. Well, I was half right! Although we all love a flamboyant and wild celebration following a win, and complained at the time that it’s not exactly what we got, in retrospect it was a celebration fitting of Andy. So overcome by actually winning his first Slam, all he could do was sink to his haunches and stare in disbelief at his team – in his own way, it was the biggest celebration of his career.”

Smile. Fitting. I'm watching the final now.

I think the feeling was one of relief. He is probably saying to himself "well that's over thank goodness" now I can get back to playing tennis without all that sh-t on my mind.

I really want to see a gif of him geeing up the crowd after going up 2-0 in the final set. Tried many times to convert it myself but neither benderconverter or gifsoup wants to work.
